Today the #GreenInvestmentRoundtable got underway in Dakar, Senegal, focusing on forging partnerships and seeking strategies to unlock #ClimateInvestment in Africa. This is the second Green Investment Roundtable organized by the Global Green Growth Institute through the Transformative Climate Finance Program of the African Union’s Green Recovery Action Plan (AU GRAP). The #GreenInvestmentRoundtable will conclude on September 11 and participating stakeholders will gain a comprehensive understanding of investor perspectives, streamline decision-making processes for climate-related projects, showcase innovative projects from the private sector and commercial banks and accelerate climate investment in various projects from the participating countries, leveraging Senegal’s experience in the region. On Day 1, the discussions focused on 1) understanding what Investors want, 2) Experiences from private sector and commercial banks, 3) #GreenInvestment opportunities for both public and private sectors, and 4) emerging #GreenFinance instruments. Tomorrow Sept 10, the discussions will continue with participants exploring key #Greeninvestment and #ClimateFinance initiatives (such as the Africa-Middle East SAFE Initiative), strategies to accelerate public-private partnerships to unlock green investments and climate finance and the experiences of women and youth in the development and execution of effective climate projects Discussions are taking place both on-site and online. A happy International Day of Clean Air for blue skies! 🌍 #AirPollution is one of the biggest environmental health risks of our time: 99% of the world’s population breathe polluted air. #AirPollution exacerbates #climatechange, causes economic losses, and reduces agricultural productivity. On this International Day of Clean Air for blue skies we recognize that #CleanAir keeps us alive and healthy. In 2020 Global Green Growth Institute introduced the Blue Skies and Net Zero 2050 campaign which serves as a platform to bring together governments, businesses, civil society groups, youth groups, and the public sector to build stronger public awareness of both air pollution and the climate crisis. The campaign also builds support for ambitious, and champions bold actions to tackle greenhouse gas reduction and achieve the net-zero emissions pledge.
