Last evening, EUROBAK had the honor of participating in a high-level meeting with Mr. Henrik Hololei , Hors Classe Adviser to the Director-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) at the European Commission, during his visit to Almaty. This is yet another occasion where EUROBAK has been invited to share its perspectives, underscoring the continued strong collaboration between our organization and the European Commission European Union in Kazakhstan The discussions centered on the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and the strategic significance of Critical Raw Materials, while also addressing crucial topics such as: - Kazakhstan’s regional development potential - Regulatory reforms - Emerging opportunities in logistics - SME growth - Workforce challenges We always greatly value the opportunity to engage with EU Delegates, as these meetings provide a vital platform to represent the concerns of the business community and work together to identify actionable solutions. The meeting was graciously hosted by the Delegation of the German Economy in Central Asia DIHK (AHK Zentralasien / GFCC Central Asia), with special thanks to Vladimir Nikitenko P.S. EUROBAK Meeting with Mr. Sadvakassov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC "Kazakh Tourism" We are pleased to share the highlights of our meeting with Mr. Sadvakassov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC "Kazakh Tourism," and attended by representatives from the Akimat of Almaty City and the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. EUROBAK Meeting with the Vice-Minister of the National Economy, Mr. Amrin This week, we held an online meeting with our Members and the Vice-Minister of the National Economy, Mr. Amrin, where significant updates to the Tax Code that directly impact businesses in Kazakhstan were discussed. We greatly appreciate the Ministry’s emphasis on maintaining an open dialogue with the business community and its encouragement for EUROBAK Members to submit business proposals directly. It was agreed that EUROBAK Members will continue to play an active role in the development of the Tax Code, ensuring a constructive collaboration with the Ministry. EUROBAK Roundtable on Global Best Practices for Attracting and Serving Foreign Direct Investment On September 26, EUROBAK, in collaboration with Kazakh Invest and USAID, co-organized a roundtable that brought together industry leaders, EUROBAK Members, the diplomatic community, international financial organizations, and government bodies and agencies to discuss strategies for enhancing Kazakhstan’s investment climate. This event was part of our ongoing collaboration with the Government of Kazakhstan to foster a more favorable investment environment by contributing to legislative improvements across various sectors. We were honored to have outstanding speakers share their expertise: - Alibek Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, delivered a welcome speech, emphasizing the government's commitment to improving investment policies. - H.E. Aleska Simkic , the Ambassador of the European Delegation in Kazakhstan , highlighted the significance of EU-Kazakhstan partnerships and their role in promoting a sustainable business climate. - Deborah Robinson , Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy , provided insights into the importance of international cooperation. - David O'Donovan , a specialist in FDI strategies , shared international best practices in investment promotion, with a focus on the Irish model and how it could serve as an example for Kazakhstan. - Wojciech Tyborowski, Director at Invest in Pomerania , discussed Poland's success in attracting and servicing foreign investments, offering practical advice applicable to Kazakhstan. - Dias Asanov , EUROBAK Deputy Chairman and CEO of Siemens Kazakhstan , spoke about EUROBAK's contributions to improving the country’s investment attractiveness, focusing on our ongoing ESG initiatives. - Vladimir Sidorenko, Principal Banker for Sustainable Infrastructure at the EBRD , offered his perspective on unlocking Kazakhstan’s potential through sustainable infrastructure investments. We were also pleased to welcome our colleagues from American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, AmCham Tajikistan, and AmCham Uzbekistan. We are collaborating with them under the Memorandum signed this spring and look forward to continued cooperation. This event showcased the importance of global collaboration in promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) and highlighted how adopting international best practices can help Kazakhstan build a robust, sustainable, and competitive investment landscape. We are extremely grateful to USAID and KAZAKH INVEST for their invaluable support in making this event possible.
