Catherine Mailhouse
Catherine Mailhouse is the Director of Content Development at LAist Studios, managing various on-demand audio programs in production and under development, including Imperfect Paradise, The L.A. Report, and a forthcoming Asian American Pacific Islander history podcast. Catherine was the Senior Supervising Editor/Producer of NPR’s flagship show Morning Edition and podcast Up First from 2019 to 2021.
Before joining NPR, she produced numerous shows for CNN, CNN International, and HLN as a producer, writer, and senior producer. During her time at CNN, Catherine produced multiple breaking news specials and was a part of the Peabody-award winning teams responsible for live special coverage of the Arab Spring in 2011 and the Deepwater Horizon Gulf oil spill in 2010. Previously, she was a Los Angeles-based producer/editor for CBS News, where she produced and shaped coverage for CBS Newspath — the network’s affiliate news service division.
Catherine began her journalism career as an Emmy-nominated reporter in Atlanta, Georgia and South Dakota. She graduated from Emory University and lives in Los Angeles with her family.
