Engaging young people in governance is paramount for nurturing the next generation of leaders. It’s also central to our mission at Siren Associates at Siren Analytics. As part of our rolling #Youth4Governance internship scheme, we train our interns on skills that are essential for a modern public sector. Last week, the focus was on statistics and survey methodologies, preparing the interns for upcoming field work examining the impact of unregulated quarrying in #Lebanon. 

There are myriad reasons why promising new technologies are not always embraced. Within #education, Covid created an opening for innovative #EdTech solutions to demonstrate their worth. Augmental Learning, an AI powered e-learning platform is one of those, now helping students achieve better outcomes through adaptive learning. Yesterday I attended a roundtable event on statelessness in Lebanon, specifically the legal complexities surrounding birth registration. I had the pleasure to present an important piece of research, commissioned by INTERSOS - Humanitarian Organization and conducted by Siren Associates through the amazing leadership of Elias Dahrouge, PhD Statelessness is a minority issue with severe repercussions for those who lack documentation or nationality. Thank you to Norwegian Refugee Council for getting experts on the subject matter together to discuss joint recommendations and hopeful draft laws in the pipeline.
