Recyclium

Technologie, Information und Internet

Recyclium has built the world`s first recyclables tracking platform enabling brand owners to implement full circularity.

Info

Recyclium provides a blockchain-based bounty system to brand owners so that they can track their products and end-of-life recyclables, ultimately allowing them to access their own raw materials physically for own recycling purposes. Collectors/pickers are rewarded fairly and transparently by the brand owners via bounties awarded on the blockchain. 📩 DM to inquire about the pilot program

Dangers of disposable Vapes — a reminder to take responsibility, act, and revive the waste management system A recent report reveals that the UK is now experiencing an average of one fire per day caused by improperly disposed waste materials like batteries, electrical equipment, and other hazardous items. These fires, often referred to as "waste fires," are a growing concern to public safety, the environment, and infrastructure. Disposable vapes are a significant part of this problem. With less than 5% of them being recycled properly, over 1.3 million disposable vapes are discarded each week in the UK alone. This is a burning issue that demands urgent action from both producers and consumers. It's time for manufacturers to step up! Producers must provide clear guidelines for vapes' proper disposal and set up recycling points or return schemes that will solve the problem. Under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, companies are obligated to manage the full lifecycle of their products, including safe disposal and recycling. if given a chance - consumers, will have the power to make a difference and properly dispose these products, instead of throwing them in the trash. At Recyclium, we're tackling this issue with our innovative, post-consumption products tracking solution and an easy to implement deposit schemes. By tracking and incentivising proper disposal, we ensure that disposable vapes are recycled correctly, reducing fire risks and environmental damage. With our system, consumers can easily find collection points, and deposit their used vapes, and contribute to a safer, healthier future. Let’s take responsibility together—producers, consumers, and recyclers—and make sure every vape is disposed of safely and sustainably.

Circularity Gap Report 2024: Key Insights The Circularity Gap Report 2024 reveals some alarming statistics: over 2 billion tonnes of waste are produced globally each year, with only 9% of plastics recycled. By 2050, plastics in our oceans could outweigh fish, emphasising the urgent need for systemic change in the waste management industry. Current Scenario: • Resource Overuse: Earth’s resources are used 60% faster than they can be replenished. • Waste Accumulation: 6.3 billion tonnes of plastic waste have accumulated in the environment. • Electronic Waste: 50 million tonnes of electronic waste are generated annually, worth $62 billion but largely untapped. Now let’s talk about the driving trends towards Circular Economy: • Raw Materials Upcycling: └ Scarcity & Costs: Increasing scarcity and rising costs of raw materials. └ Opportunity: Converting waste into valuable resources reduces the need for new material extraction. └ Impact: Promotes sustainable production practices. • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): └ Regulations: Governments enforce producers to manage product lifecycles. └ Design: Encourages recyclable product design. └ Effect: Promotes a more circular economy. • ESG Reporting: └ Importance: Reflects companies' commitment to sustainability. └ Stakeholders: Enhances transparency for investors, customers, and the public. └ Compliance: Drives companies to adopt sustainable practices. This report focuses on the need for innovative solutions. At Recyclium, we want to address these critical issues with our blockchain-based solution that tracks recyclables, and raw materials and ensures that they are returned to manufacturers. As a result, making it easier for businesses to comply with EPR regulations, achieve their ESG goals and close the loop. Join us in turning waste into wealth and contributing to a greener future.

EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) Takes Effect! As of July 2024, the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is reshaping how companies report on sustainability. Here's the latest:  • Affecting over 50,000 companies, including large firms, SMEs listed on EU markets, and non-EU companies with significant EU revenue, the CSRD mandates detailed ESG reporting. • The directive aims to harmonise sustainability reporting, reduce long-term costs, and provide stakeholders with clearer insights. It also requires third-party assurance of sustainability disclosures. • Companies must report on their entire supply chain's sustainability practices. • Companies are encouraged to use technologies like blockchain for traceability, supporting the EU's vision of a sustainable and competitive economy by 2050. So what does this mean? Businesses must enhance their sustainability practices and transparency. This increased accountability will likely lead to more environmentally and socially responsible corporate behaviours. However, meeting these rigorous standards can be challenging, particularly for smaller companies or those with complex supply chains. We at Recyclium aim to bridge this gap by providing blockchain-based traceability and comprehensive data management to help companies meet CSRD requirements efficiently. Let's close the loop together. ♻

Switzerland strugglling with smartphone sustainability! A significant number of Swiss citizens—nearly half—hold on to their old smartphones, tablets, and laptops, according to a recent report by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). This highlights the early stages of sustainability in the digital sector. With manufacturing accounting for up to 80% of a smartphone's total carbon footprint, extending the lifespan of these devices is crucial. The FSO report emphasizes the importance of repairs, resales, refurbishments, and the recycling of raw materials to reduce environmental impact. Surprisingly, 48% of internet users in Switzerland store their old smartphones rather than recycling them. Laptops and tablets see similar trends, with only about a quarter being recycled as e-waste. So what could be done? To begin with, here’s a simple solution to make a big impact: 👉 Recycle: Properly recycle old devices to recover valuable materials. 👉 Reuse/Donate: Give working electronics to those in need. 👉 Repair: Fix devices instead of discarding them. 👉 Reduce: Limit unnecessary purchases of new electronics. At Recyclium, we are dedicated to addressing this issue. Our solutions aim to promote sustainable practices in the digital sector, ensuring that end-of-life electronics are properly recycled and their materials repurposed. Join us in making a difference and fostering a circular economy!

4 million tons of critical raw materials are concealed within e-waste, as per 2022 data. E-waste serves not only as a reservoir of valuable materials but also, when mishandled, becomes a source of significant environmental contamination. By 2030, an alarming 82 billion metric tons of e-waste is projected to be generated globally. This staggering volume necessitates innovative approaches to facilitate its recycling. The squandered potential of e-waste is staggering. In 2022 alone, a total of 12 million tons of metals were lost, representing billions of dollars in value. If the enormity of these figures isn't compelling enough to advocate for e-waste recycling, consider this: the environmental degradation caused by e-waste is compounded by the environmental toll of metal mining. Additionally, there are initiatives to exploit deep seabeds, posing further risks to ecosystems. At Recyclium, we believe in prioritizing reuse over endangering additional ecosystems.

Disposable vapes are recklessly squandering valuable lithium resources, with over 10,000 tonnes ending up in landfills annually in the UK alone. Why is this alarming? Due to the components the Vapes are made of. Even when they’re empty, they contain plastics, a lithium-ion battery, leftover nicotine salt E-Liquid, and lastly heavy metals. There is no effective way to recycle these as of now, they largely end up in landfills where they degrade and pollute the environment. The situation with Vape sticks being discarded has been a burning issue for over a year now and it has only got worse posing environmental and safety hazards. Producers must promote recycling, while policymakers should enhance electronic waste management. Let's prioritize sustainable practices to mitigate the impact of disposable vapes and safeguard our planet! 🌍🌿
