🔬 ADVANCED AEGD: Plasma Pretreatment for High-Performance PVD Coatings Plasma-based surface treatments are essential for ensuring excellent adhesion and enhanced performance of PVD coatings. However, conventional plasma etching technologies often face challenges in terms of limited etching rates or uneven etching distribution. Oerlikon’s Advanced Arc Enhanced Glow Discharge (AEGD) overcomes these challenges by combining the high plasma density of cathodic arc evaporation with a noble gas-based glow discharge, offering an innovative approach to PVD pretreatment: ✅ Higher etching rates – Efficient contamination removal with adjustable etching rate over the height ✅ Superior adhesion – Enhanced coating performance for AlTiN coatings on cemented carbides ✅ Plasma nitriding – Increased hardness for tool steels without forming compound layers By independently controlling bias potential and plasma intensity, AEGD delivers scalability, precision, and excellent coating adhesion. 📖 Read the full scientific article to explore the details of the ADVANCED AEGD technology: https://lnkd.in/eatahHSa
