We further discussed current challenges and opportunities in the field, as well as strategies for raising awareness about the importance of quality lighting as a valuable investment for properties. BEGA is What it is …

During the progress review meeting for the project involving final-year students from the Electrical Engineering Department at University of Moratuwa , They are producing "Adaptive Moving Lighting System." This initiative has been assigned by the PROLighting Group and is being supervised by Professor Asanka Rodrigo and myself. The project aims to yield several key outcomes: controllable lighting movement, automatic adjustment of color temperature in accordance with human-centric lighting principles, intensity modulation (dimming) to facilitate mood enhancement, and energy saving through the detection of human occupancy in the designated area. All of these functionalities are managed by an AI-based system.

As the global growth of the climate crisis, lighting has also grown in its significance to the energy use and environmental devastation. Due to this, sustainability in lighting has become a central concern for the industries of design, engineering, and construction and has transitioned from what had been merely a niche specialty to an industry priority and necessity. The present trends in the lighting industry includes the introduction of sustainable light, the role of the circular economy, major barriers, and possible opportunities for the future direction of lighting and lighting design. As a leading lighting solutions provider, we believe it is our responsibility to educate and practice sustainability in lighting.
