The Ralapanawa Canal is essential for farming in Nawagattegama, but years of neglect caused severe flooding and social conflicts. Thanks to the GRACE Project funded by the European Union and implemented by World Vision Lanka, the canal has been cleaned, preventing floods and easing community tensions. For the first time, locals haven’t had to seek refuge during floods, marking a significant improvement in their lives. The project aims to promote social cohesion and harmony through transformed relationships between communities and socio-economic support in North-Western and Western provinces of Sri Lanka.
