#Before & #After: A Remarkable #Transformation in Dadalla, Galle (Sri Lanka) What was once a #plastic #dumping site in Dadalla has been completely transformed thanks to the incredible efforts of the local community and over 100 passionate ZeroPlastic Movement volunteers! 📸 Before: The village road was filled with plastic waste, harming the environment and surrounding biodiversity. 📸 After: Through door-to-door education and a massive cleanup, the area is now thriving with restored #biodiversity. It’s #disheartening to see how the surroundings of many #religious places have become #hotspots of #pollution, with plastic packaging and bottles littered across these sacred spaces. As believers, it's our duty to protect the sanctity of these areas. In collaboration with the Tourism and Hospitality Subject Association, Department of Tourism Management, ZeroPlastic Sabaragamuwa organized a cleanup project at the "Maha Saman Devalaya" premises. We are pleased to share that our dedicated #volunteers from the Zeroplastic Cinec Club at CINEC Campus and the #Leo Club of Mount Lavinia successfully conducted an #awareness session for Kelaniya Dhamma School and a #cleanup drive at the Kelaniya Temple premises. The CINEC ZeroPlastic Club, led by our talented Amaya Yapa and guided by Pawani Kuragama, played a pivotal role in this initiative. We deeply appreciate the efforts of the Exco and all the volunteers who supported this cause. The awareness session focused on educating students about the harmful impacts of plastic usage and #pollution. We were heartened to see the enthusiasm of the students as they learned how they can contribute to a plastic-free environment. Simultaneously, our amazing volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean the temple surroundings, which had been littered by visitors.
