Fellow Liberians, Brotherly greetings to all. A little over six years ago, we elected a government with a promise of change. While I did not support this regime, recognizing the absence of good leadership among its ranks, many believed it to be our nation's saving grace. Through our shared trials, we endured and waited patiently. Now, less than a year ago, we had another opportunity to choose again. This time, we have elected an experienced statesman, a beacon of hope and change, whose character has been tested and proven. Fellow Liberians, I am excited to share my unwavering hope, confidence, and prayers that this change will lead us to true development, national unity, and a social contract that upholds human rights. We hold strong conviction that our society can prosper in ways that reflect the Africa we aspire to build. A Liberia democratic nation where my three little children can thrive in, call home, be proud to live and work, and a place of achievable dreams. With this hope, I wish you all a Happy Independence Day 2024 on this July 26 and welcome to a new Liberia. On this Independence Day, let me call us to duty. No nation can rise without the dedication of its people. We must commit ourselves to hard work, grounded in integrity and patriotism. We must embrace our diversity in tribes, culture, regional and county origins. With unity, we can build a country that truly works for all. Fellow Liberians, let us unite around this administration. The dawn of a new era looks promising. Let us combine our efforts to build a Liberia that is truly African, prosperous, united, and sustainable. Never shall we return to the hardships of recent years. Forward to the new era! Long live the people and government of Liberia. Long live democracy.

Liberia & Primary Industries – Starting Small to Grow Big With the return of the UP Party to power, there is much to gain. Let's acknowledge the past errors as lessons learned, paving the way for a new era without excuses. However, development must be centered on the people, not the government. While politics often focuses on the battles between ruling and opposition parties, the power truly lies with the citizens, and this is my call to action. Citizens' empowerment is crucial, and now is the time to seize the opportunity with determination and unity. In Liberia, we are blessed with primary industries that hold immense potential. Instead of seeking outside investments, our focus should be inward. Firstly, we must identify all existing primary industries such as oil and gas, palm oil, rubber, iron ore, timber, and gold mines. These sectors offer potential in three key ways: 1. Local Sourcing: We need to scrutinize the sources of consumables used within these industries. If they are sourced locally in Liberia, that's excellent. However, any imported consumables that could be produced locally should be immediately targeted for negotiation. This approach will empower local businesses to take charge of the supply chain. 2. Value Addition: Where there is potential for establishing small-scale industry complexes to add value, we must act swiftly. We should empower our citizens and qualified professionals to develop viable business concepts and enable them to start production promptly. 3. Corporate Social Responsibility: With this, we have to enforce all concession agreements. Review them with the clear intent of helping them and helping us as a country. These responsibilities can help build quality schools, ensure that hospitals have supplies, promote good business practices, improve community relationships, and leverage on the utilization of county social development funds to fund exclusively county centers. This will even ease the burden on the national budget. By focusing on these two key value chains, we can set ourselves on a path of progress. The potential for job creation is substantial, and with careful execution, we can estimate the significant impact on employment. Yes, there might be mistakes along the way; after all, business involves risks. But the point is, we have the capability if we have the will. Let us commence with modest beginnings, aiming for substantial growth in the future.

Working as a young Community Empowerment Facilitator in Zahn Banlah, Nimba county, here was a ten Classrooms building being erected through self community initiatives. This project was initiated and actualized through community resource mapping and negotiations with elders, women, youth and traditional leaders. Little NGO support, no government input, only community resources went into this project, with 75% of all materials right from the community. This achievement in my early career remains an example of community resilience and empowerment. Today, as I preached community empowerment and locally led development, I am always reminded that develop is within. For communities in Africa to develop, we must listen and work with the people and all barriers to community decision making and participation must be removed. Thanks to the Lutheran World Federation, World Services. I really loved my early career.
