Water-Washable Resin: Safe or Just Convenient? In the 3D printing world, water-washable resin is a popular choice for easy cleanup. But while it’s convenient, let’s debunk the myth that it’s automatically safer. 📌 Here’s what to know: 1️⃣ Protective Gear is a Must: Gloves, goggles, and proper clothing are essential for safe handling. 2️⃣ Dispose Responsibly: Pouring resin-tainted water down the drain can harm waterways—solidify and dispose as per local guidelines. 3️⃣ Stay Informed: The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) can provide specifics on safe handling. By prioritizing safety, we keep both ourselves and the environment secure. Let’s encourage responsible 3D printing! Check out other resin safety myths busted by AmeraLabs! https://lnkd.in/d2nBdiyJ #3DPrintingSafety #WaterWashableResin #SustainablePrinting #AmeraLabs #SafetyFirst

Professional Creative. Owner: Sea Dog Game Studios. Artist, freelancer, game designer, digital sculptor, pewter smith, photographer, writer, naval historian, Additive manufacturing and 3D printing educator and advocate.

Brian's Studio Log: So as the last weekend of #ohiorenaissancefestival approaches, The first round of #steampunk #gears #pewter #jewelry are complete, having been sculpted in #rhino3d, prototyped in AmeraLabs #TGM7, printed, tested, and mold frames made and #3dprinted in #formlabs greyV4, molding in #RTV rubber completed, molds cut, cast, hand torched, filed and cleaned - all during the run of the Ohio Ren show. It's been a awesome creative ride and I hope everyone enjoys these gears as much as I did making them for all of you. When I set out to do gears as jewelry it's in a world where far to much of what we do is available mass produced and available everywhere for cheap, and, well, while any gears are cool I hoped to provide something that feels a little different then all those brass gears you can get anywhere. They are going to have to hit that bar as a #handcrafted #artist cant compete price wise with a bag of cheap brass gears! Having held these in hand the first thing I noticed even before we finished them is they feel substantial... while they are not "heavy" they are heavier then the thin brass, and past that you find yourself rubbing them and feeling them in your fingers as they are very 3D. This hit my first goal for me for sure. The second thought I had when I sculpted these is to get away from the clockpunk brass feel and go more #victorian #edwardian #industrial feeling Seeing these I feel we hit that mark as well... the gears all feel used and out of a steam shop which I love. I do plan to do some more polished bright and shiny versions using my steel shot tumbler down the road for those that prefer shinier, and also so we can mix and match #petina levels to add depth when we do pieces with multiple gears. I want to thank My #valkyriepewter crew of Wanda, Dave, Chris, Ed, Becca, Layla, and Elizabeth for helping me bring these to life this season. These will be available at Ohio Ren this final weekend, at #FallIN (HMGS wargaming show) the week after, and the shows we attend throughout the year -and of course you can also reach out to us online. I also want to thank my Uncle Rick for sending me the lucky 1906 Indian head cent used to provide period flair and scale for these pics. Keep on Steamin' - More soon I hope! Brian

Are you encountering uneven surfaces on your 3D prints? This common issue may be due to “blooming.” Here are 6 steps you can take to address it: 1️⃣ Add Rest Time: Implement a 1-2 second rest time after retracting. 2️⃣ Hollow Your Model: Consider hollowing your model for improved print quality. 3️⃣ Check in the Slicer: Always check in the slicer for a smooth surface. 4️⃣ Calibration is Key: Use the AmeraLabs Town Calibration Part to fine-tune your exposure settings. 5️⃣ Perform a Dry Run: Remove the build plate and resin tray, place a piece of paper on the screen, and start the print. Wear UV safety glasses to protect your eyes! 6️⃣ Improve Your Cleaning Process: Reprint your model, increasing the duration and intensity of your cleaning routine to avoid uneven surfaces.
