Every #girl deserves a life free from discrimination, violence, and harmful practices. Yet, in many parts of the world, girls face obstacles from birth, from unequal access to healthcare to harmful practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation. Let's ensure that every girl has the opportunity to thrive, free from violence and discrimination, from childhood into adulthood. From an early age, mental health issues affect boys and girls differently. Young girls often deal with anxiety and depression, while boys may struggle in silence, pressured by society to stay strong and hide their emotions. As they grow older, these differences persist. #Women are more likely to experience anxiety, but #men often face hidden battles with substance abuse and are at a higher risk of suicide. Many men avoid seeking help, fearing the stigma around mental health. 💡 It’s time to break these barriers. #Mentalhealth affects everyone and getting support should be for all. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. 📣 Let’s talk openly and make sure no one is left behind. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJ2RihRR #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth Mental Health Europe

Our Gender Equality Index shows that women are interested in working in the green sector. Where women account for 22 % of workers in the conventional energy sector in the EU. And, globally, women represent a little under one-third (32 %) of the workforce in the renewable energy sector. A sustainable future means better jobs, healthier communities, and a stronger planet. By ensuring gender equality in the green economy, we can drive innovation and progress. Let’s make sure no talent is left behind! On 8 and 9 October, EIGE is organising an expert consultation meeting on the Beijing Platform for Action +30 and the Gender Equality Index update. 🔙 In 1995, at the Fourth World Conference on Women, leaders from 189 countries adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the world’s most widely endorsed agenda for women’s rights. 🗓️ As we approach 2025, marking 30 years since this landmark moment, EIGE is preparing a report on the EU’s progress since 2019, ensuring the commitments made remain central to gender equality policy. 🔄 Plus, after a decade, EIGE's Gender Equality Index is undergoing a major update to reflect today’s evolving challenges and priorities. 👉 Why is this important? These initiatives will influence future EU policies on gender equality, ensuring they align with the changing gender equality landscape. #GenderEquality #EIGE #BPfA30 #GenderEqualityIndex #Research

In 2023, 32% of employed women (aged 25–54) with children in the EU worked part-time, compared to 20% of women without children. For men, the figures are much lower- just 5% of fathers and 7% of men without children. This gap is a clear sign that we need to reshape our work environments and policies to support both parents equally. Let’s push for more flexible, inclusive solutions that empower women to thrive in their careers without compromising family life. More info: https://lnkd.in/eSFJync2 #GenderEquality

👨🏫On World Teachers' Day, we honour those who inspire and uplift. Teachers, especially in fields like education in the European Union, where 86% are women and only 14% are men, challenge norms and encourage students to see beyond stereotypes. 🙌Picture a classroom where a teacher, regardless of gender, empowers young minds to pursue their passions, whether in traditionally male or female-dominated fields. That’s the transformative power of a teacher – shaping more equal futures. Let’s celebrate their impact today and always. #WorldTeachersDay #InspireTheFuture #GenderEqualityInEducation

Want to know more about ‘best practices’ for collecting data on sex, gender, gender identity, and other intersecting inequalities? 🌍 💡Then read EIGE’s updated guidance, which reveals that a handful of EU Member States offer or are exploring the 'X' gender marker option in passports, while most others continue to use the binary categories ('female' and 'male') in their official statistics. 📊 ➡ https://lnkd.in/eM5btSpa 💡💡For a deeper look, see the report's Table 3: Practices for recording legal sex and/or gender identity in nationwide surveys and administrative registers in a selection of Member States.

As we mark the International Day of Non-Violence, it’s time to confront the staggering cost of gender-based violence in the European Union: 366 billion euros annually. Yet, only 1% is spent on prevention, with even less dedicated to shelters for victims. Without investing in solutions, we allow this violence to persist. No country can afford the price of inaction. Together, we can make a difference. #EndGenderViolence #InternationalDayOfNonViolence #InvestInPrevention
