Our Visual Mock-up has been approved for Tower 2 of the Michigan Avenue project in Manchester. 👏 Michigan Towers is a mixed-use development in the iconic Media City complex in Manchester's Salford district. We are responsible for the 14,109 m2 façade for Tower 2 of this project, a 35-storey high-rise that will feature apartments, townhouses and amenity spaces. This is our 3rd high-profile project in the city. And we are working in close collaboration with architects Falconer Chester Hall, client Vermont Construction, and the local authorities to ensure it is another striking addition to Salford's skyline. "We have completed our VMU for this project, and it has been approved by the client, the architect and the city planners," comments Staticus Project Manager, Kamil Szymula. 💬 "Our project partners have shared comments on minor adjustments, which we are implementing," Kamil continues. "Approval of the VMU is a positive and important step in this project. It has been achieved through close collaboration with our project partners - especially the architects - to ensure we meet the high expectations for this project." The next milestone for Staticus is to finalise the performance mock-up. "We have completed production of the PMU and we are currently proceeding with our internal testing process," says Kamil. "The next step will be having the PMU shipped to the UK for CWCT testing at the VINCI Technology Centre UK Ltd." ⚙️ Approving the PMU and starting production will be a significant moment for us as a company. This façade is the 1st that we have developed for the UK market using our own system, which is based on Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles. It is also the first structurally-glazed solution with fins that we have developed using DfM. Using DfM means the parts, components and products have been designed with particular attention to ease of production and assembly. "It is a milestone for us as this is our first use of this system in the UK," explains Kamil. "DfM brings sustainability and efficiency advantages, and these benefits are amplified when used on large-scale projects like Michigan Avenue." Congratulations to the team on the VMU approval, and we look forward to similar good news regarding the PMU in the near future. And thank you to all of our project partners for making these successes possible thanks to your collaborative and open approach. 🤝 #MichiganAvenue #Tower2 #Manchester #UK #DfM #Staticus #BeyondFacades

Conferences like glasstec – International Trade Fair ‘CircuClarity ONE’ indicate the quick advancements in the field of the circular economy. And we believe it has been a success. 👏 Our CBDO, Aulikki Sonntag, and IT project manager, Ricardo Seijas, shared that many of the ideas presented at the conference two years ago were fresh concepts that grabbed the audience's curiosity and imagination. Today, these once-futuristic concepts swiftly become actual realities, transforming the natural environment of sustainable construction. 💬 “The journey to 'CircuClarity ONE' was a collaborative effort that spanned over two years, involving a diverse group of stakeholders from the engineering community, academia, and industry. Through numerous workshops and research projects, the potential of circularity was explored and key areas for development were identified," said Aulikki. Staticus contributed to the circularity topic, focusing on data and communication. Our team presentation highlighted the importance of data sharing and the potential benefits of harnessing data to drive circularity. Following the presentations, a lively podium discussion moderated by Lisa Rammig and Linda Hildebrand explored key questions related to data-driven circularity and the value that data brings to material reuse. This discussion between us and Graeme DeBrincat and Graham Coult provided valuable insights and fostered further dialogue among industry experts. We are committed to continuing our pioneering efforts and driving the adoption of circular practices within the façade industry. As we look ahead, the untapped potential of circularity is both motivating and promising for the sector. Photo by Marcel Bilow #conference #sustainability #innovation #networking #facades

We are proud to have completed the main installation phase of the We Land office development in Helsinki, including a fully-glazed double-skin façade on the top floor. 🙌 We Land is an elegant new office building located in the attractive Ruoholahti quarter of Finland's capital. The project is our first in Finland. It is also the first time we have delivered a project featuring a heated glass roof. And installing this complex, double-skin façade on the building's 14th floor presented our team with a series of challenges, as our Head of Installation, Modestas Midveris, explains. "The 14th floor was certainly the icing on the cake of this project, and required some complex technical solutions," he explains." We installed an external cantilevering maintenance structure from steel around the building, before then installing double-skin façade." "The elements for this 14th floor roof are 6m high," adds Construction Manager, Paulius Karvelis. "We had to add both the grilles and the external glass (which is also about 6m high) on top of the maintenance structure." Careful planning was required for the attractive copper lamellas used for the cladding on We Land. We produced 1729 of these lamellas and they give the building an elegant, high-end aesthetic. The challenge came with installing these components, which are both expensive and easily damaged. "We transported the elements first, without the copper finishes," says Modestas. "This cladding was then installed separately on site, on top of the elements that had already been laid down." "We built a separate crane just for the installation of these external finishes," adds Paulius. "We assigned an additional team just for the installation of these finishes, and installation of both the building elements and cladding took place during the evening shift. This ensured we achieved the efficiency and installation rate needed." Thanks to our installation team's effective problem-solving, delivering the 11 418 m2 façade for We Land has gone well. "The installation of the elements went smoothly," says Paulius. Creating an Empowering Culture is one of the key Must Win Battles (MWBs) in our current 4-year strategy launched earlier this year. And a core element of an empowering culture is having driven teams that align with our overall objectives and collaborate effectively. 🙌 Empowered teams does not simply happen - which is why we gathered our Commercial Projects teams from across Europe for a 2-day planning event in Vilnius. On day 1, we held retrospectives to reflect on recent successes and challenges, while on day 2 the focus shifted to planning for Release 4 and setting OKRs for the upcoming quarter. Department heads and facilitators were on hand to share their guidance. And holding this event in person brought multiple benefits. “Although everything is possible online nowadays, dedicating in-person time and focus on high-quality planning and collaboration significantly boosts engagement,” comments Ilona Guobyte, Staticus’ CODO. Other team members were equally positive about having the event in-person, pointed out that: 🚀 face-to-face meeting enhanced collaboration, 🤝 felt a more cohesive team dynamic and stronger team bonding, 💬 allowed more open conversations and immediate feedback. We dedicate significant resources setting clear organisational objectives, including quarterly OKRs and 5 MWBs that define our 4-year strategy. To turn these goals on paper into results on the ground requires the empowerment and alignment of our diverse international team. Many thanks to all of the team members who organised and took part in this productive meet up, which is helping to reach this goal. #Staticus #Strategy #EmpoweredTeams #BeyondFacades

What happens to a hospital and its patients during an extreme event like an earthquake or hurricane? 🏨 The answer should be: "nothing". The building continues to function as designed and patients continue to receive the care they need. Our latest case study dives into the unique challenges of the Landspitali hospital façade, from seismic activity to patient well-being. Hospital façades must be designed and built to ensure the hospital continues to function even in extreme weather conditions. Patient and employee well-being is also an important factor, with natural light, acoustics and materials all have an effect on patient outcomes. On top of these considerations, the new treatment centre for Landspitali Hospital in Reykjavik, Iceland, presented additional challenges: 1. Iceland's extreme weather conditions and seismic activity, 2. And the scale and complexity of this 30,000 m2 façade project. Our latest case studies investigates how we are addressing these challenges to deliver Iceland's largest and most complex project to date. Highlights include: 📝 Designing a solution to meet Buro Happold created detailed specifications for the project, including 11 different façade types and 500 different cross-sections, 🚨 Passing dynamic and static seismic testing on our PMU to meet the American AAMA, a first for Staticus, 📐 Delivering on Corpus 3 Architect's vision when ensuring all the practical requirements of a functioning hospital are met by our client NLSH. We would like to appreciate our colleagues for their contributions to this article: Design Manager Martynas Seliuta, Project Director Giedrius Valantinas and Construction Manager Paulius Karvelis. 📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dYnrqtiM #Staticus #HospitalFacade #BeyondFacades

In today's construction industry, where circularity is a paramount goal, the façade market is under immense pressure to adopt new practices. 🍃 Staticus has taken a step towards this goal by introducing the Staticus Care initiative. This innovative approach focuses on defining, measuring, and monitoring the performance of façades to ensure optimal building performance and life cycle management. By interacting with the larger community, we can stimulate collaboration and expedite the adoption of information sharing and innovation expansion. That is why Ricardo Seijas, our IT Project Manager, and Aulikki Sonntag, Staticus CBDO, will be discussing Staticus Care at this year's glasstec – International Trade Fair conference in Dusseldorf, held from October 22nd to 25th, as part of the 'CircuClarity ONE' programme within the "glass technology live" innovation hub in hall 11. They will discuss:  📌 The importance of data and communication for the circular economy.  📌 The need for a common data protocol to include as many stakeholders and materials as possible. 📌 How scaling these solutions is necessary to enable the circular economy and business models supporting it. Staticus CARE represents a significant advancement in the field of façade design and construction. We believe that focusing on circular performance will pave the road for a long-term future. #glasstec #Staticus #Innovation #Sustainability #StaticusCare
