Willgrow VC Investment Manager Justinas Milašauskas shares key takeaways from #Slush2024
🌍 13,000 attendees. 3000 Investors. 300 LPs. After 48 hours in Helsinki and tens of conversations with GPs, LPs, and founders, here are the key takeaways: 🔑 GP/LP Insights: * Europe vs. US: The US remains dominant, but Europe is closing the gap. Investors are increasingly excited about potential pockets of alpha like CEE, Baltics, Defense, Fintech, etc. * Liquidity challenges persist, but it’s all about getting into those 10-20 companies that move the needle. Tactical liquidity options emerge as companies scale. * IPO watch: Klarna, Bolt, and Revolut could unlock a flood of liquidity for European tech. 🚀 🤖 AI Perspectives: * GPs are cautious on application-layer opportunities—moats are thin. LPs are treading carefully with AI-only funds. * Secondary markets are a mixed bag: they ease liquidity, but delay IPOs. GPs are starting to push portfolio companies for public listings. * Average fund life until liquidation? A staggering 17 years. 💡 Founder Spotlights: * The Revolut and Wolt keynotes. Unparalleled. Miki Kuusi and Nik Storonsky exemplify what it means to be European founders—obsessed, efficient, unstoppable. * Fun fact: Miki was Finland’s highest earner in 2023 (€60M income, €30M taxes). Nordic transparency at its best! 🇫🇮 Slush remains the ultimate venture-native gathering, organised by students! #VentureCapital #Slush2024 #LP #GP #Willgrow #EuropeanTech

🚀 Where are the largest investors finding value in 2025? 18th Annual INVESTUOK, magazine Investor's Conference Our Chief Investment Officer, Tomas Krakauskas, recently shared his professional insights and personal investment journey in a thought-provoking conversation about the current market environment and portfolio strategies for the year ahead. Key questions tackled: 🔹 Where are the biggest opportunities for value creation in today’s market? 🔹 Which asset classes look the most promising, and which might no longer deserve a spot in the portfolio? 🔹 Beyond broad sectors, what specific positions or strategies are shaping portfolios? Tomas also offered a behind-the-scenes look at Willgrow’s approach to navigating these trends, including how we’re aligning our portfolio for success in a dynamic and uncertain environment. 💬 It was an open discussion with straightforward answers—exactly the kind of transparency and clarity we value. We’d love to hear your thoughts! Where do you see the greatest opportunities or risks in the markets for 2025? #Investing #PortfolioManagement #MarketTrends #Willgrow

Thrilled to share that earlier this month our CIO Tomas Krakauskas expertly moderated a distinguished panel at #SFOweek2024 providing valuable insights and guiding discussions on Private Equity fund selection.
I had a great privilege to moderate Private equity fund selection panel in #SFOWeek2024. More than 300 single family offices around the world gathered in London for this event. Anjel Noorbakhsh Ashman, CFA, Jeroen Afink, MBA, Emma M Cory, CFA Thank you for your interesting insights on PE fund selection. My key takeaways from the panel: - Average duration of marriage (until divorce) in US is 8 years. Average duration of private equity fund is 10-12, so be careful when choosing your long-term financial partner. - A combination of open ended PE funds with regular closed ended can produce a higher money multiple. - Technology and various databases use is crucial for PE selection. - For successful sourcing quality network (especially with other LP’s) is highly important. - TOP idea for 2024 – US/EU private equity mid-market. #Willgrow #Privateequity #Fundselection #Singlefamilyoffice

Great job by Justinas Milašauskas and Domile Andruskeviciute from the VC team at Willgrow for sharing their expertise.
Yesterday, in the fifth session of "Breaking into Finance: Private Equity and Venture Capital", we had the privilege of hosting Justinas Milašauskas and Domile Andruskeviciute from Willgrow. They delved into the dynamics of LP-GP relationships 🤝 and decision-making processes ⚖ within the industry. It was enlightening to gain insights into the daily workings of LPs and the intricacies of investment decisions 💡 . Key takeaways from the session: 1️⃣ Building an LP-GP relationship is like a marriage, founded on mutual trust. 2️⃣ The role of an LP extends beyond numbers and strategy; it encompasses an artful approach. 3️⃣ LPs prioritize evaluating the GP; the due diligence process initiates from the very first encounter.
