Since 2019, he has focused entirely on sustainable finance and regulatory developments, making him an invaluable addition to our team. Joining Forces Against Terrorism Financing! 🔜 On 8 November, the ABBL, alongside Cellule de Renseignement Financier (CRF), Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), ALFI - Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry and Luxembourg’s Financial Intelligence Unit, will host a powerful seminar tackling the urgent issue of terrorism financing. Today, ABBL, ABBL Foundation for Financial Education, and the SnT, Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust of the University of Luxembourg held a conference focused on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Transaction Monitoring in Banking. The event has been a culmination of a joint 4️⃣-year research project focusing on the suitability of AI-based solutions for Anti-Money Laundering. Specifically, the project looked at Federated Learning for Transaction Monitoring. Participants of the project presented key outcomes of the research program from the academic, education, applied points of view. 💡 ⤷ A demo of a proof of concept has been shown as well to showcase the benefits of mutualization in the context of federated learning for transaction monitoring. ✅ Key highlights of the research: 📌 Federated Learning performs well in AML scenarios, producing high performing models while preserving client privacy 📌 Federated Learning improves fraudulent transaction detection for an up to 75% decrease in false positive alerts 📌 Client participation beneficial even in cases with varying access to data The conference concluded with a Panel discussion on How to Facilitate the Adoption of AI in Transaction monitoring & AML in the Financial Services Sector of Luxembourg with representatives from Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL), Banque de Luxembourg, Banking Circle and LuxProvide. 🙌 ABBL, ABBL Foundation for Financial Education and SnT thank all speakers and participants of the event, and especially ABBL members who have volunteered to contribute to the research project over the last 4 years, and also to CSSF and BCL for observing the research project and providing useful feedback. 🤝 #AML #KYC #TransactionMonutiring #CustomerDueDiligence #AI #GenAI #FederatedLearning

On 16th October, an informative seminar featured presentations by Laetitia Carroz from the ABBL and Sylvie Maestri from BDO Luxembourg.
