🌍 💶 EU Debt surges to new heights 📈 In 2023, EU debt jumped to €458.5 billion, marking a 32% increase compared to 2022. This steep rise is mainly driven by borrowing for the NextGenerationEU (NGEU) initiative, with €268.4 billion raised to fuel Europe’s recovery from the economic consequences of the pandemic. To put this in perspective, EU debt is now almost twice as high as it was in 2021 and places the EU among the largest debt issuers in Europe. 🏦 👉 Find out more in our Annual Report on the EU finances for 2023: https://lnkd.in/eUKGXxh8 #EUfinances2023 #EUauditors
