Together with the Hellenic Republic we are launching the first thematic equity initiative in the country 🇬🇷 EquiFund II is a €200 million fund of funds initiative to help innovative companies in two promising economic sectors of the economy, namely #lifesciences & #healthcare and #sustainability & #socialimpact, get better access to vital equity financing to be more competitive and grow. #EIFin2023 has seen our green activity grow significantly, representing 39% of our 2023 commitments 📈 from #greentech and #cleantech investments, to private credit funds, infrastructure funds and #InvestEU🇪🇺’s sustainability guarantee. 🌿Investing in #sustainability not only mitigates environmental risks but also enhances the resiliency of European economies.

Just in: The EIF and NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) sign a MoU in Brussels to cooperate in supporting the growth of the defence, security, and resilience sectors across Europe 🇪🇺 The agreement aims to unlock private capital for technology sectors associated with defence and security, enabling start-ups, #SMEs and mid-caps to raise equity funding from a broader range of sources📎 bit.ly/eif-nif The MoU also outlines plans to share knowledge and raise awareness of the potential of investments in these areas. "By facilitating regular dialogue and knowledge sharing, the EIF and NIF will ensure a cohesive approach to strengthening the investment ecosystem for defence, security and resilience” 🗨️ highlights Marjut Falkstedt, EIF's CE.

Also happened this week 🆕 The EIF launches Gender Smart Equity Investment Programme to promote women leaders in the European #VC and #PE ecosystems. #GESIP is a pan-EU virtual platform with individual mandates developed in cooperation with national promotional institutions, which aims to improve gender diversity by providing capital to female-led fund managers. #Germany 🇩🇪 Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the #Netherlands 🇳🇱 Invest-NL are the first to join.
