Meet Giovanni Francescutti, Head of Global Sales Enablement at DNV, explaining why they decided to apply to become an accredited Certification Body to deliver #Europrivacy certifications in compliance with the GDPR. DNV has completed the accreditation procedure under Art. 43 GDPR and delivered their first Europrivacy certificate to Aindo. Building trust in the European Data Protection Seal: How to authenticate a #Europrivacy certificate? GDPR certification is a powerful instrument that aims at building trust. It offers many benefits, including: - Checking and identifying non-compliance with the GDPR - Documenting compliance - Reducing risks - Certifying and demonstrating compliance - Turning compliance into a source of value creation In order to ensure a high level of reliability and trust in the GDPR certification, Europrivacy leverages several mechanisms: ➡ Ecosystem of qualified partners: Certification Bodies delivering Europrivacy certifications must go through a double validation process: (1) they must receive an Art. 43 GDPR accreditation from a national authority; and (2) they must be approved as an authorized partner by the European Centre for Certification and Privacy through a highly selective process. ➡ Formal qualification of auditors: In addition to demonstrate expertise in GDPR, the auditors in charge of delivering the certification must complete a dedicated training course through the Europrivacy online academy and obtain a formal qualification as auditor. ➡ Official registry of certificates: Last but not least, as specified in the scheme itself, a Europrivacy certification becomes valid only after being published in the official registry of Europrivacy certificates. Each certificate has a unique identifier composed of a sequence of hexadecimal digits. It enables anyone to check and authenticate online the validity of a certificate in the registry, accessible through the Europrivacy website. The registry of certificates enables to prevent forgery. It enables everyone to authenticate certificates and to check if a company that claims to have a Europrivacy certification is making a false claim. Anyone who identifies abuses, such as a false communication, is invited to report it to the European Centre for Certification and Privacy. Meet Davide Ruffo, Chief of Institutional Relations at Aindo, explaining why they decided to apply for #Europrivacy, the European Data Protection Seal under GDPR. AINDO has received the official European Data Protection Seal for its synthetic data solution, delivered by DNV. A Europrivacy certificate is delivered under Art. 43 GDPR and becomes valid once it has been registered in the official registry of Europrivacy certificates managed by the European Centre for Certification and Privacy. This enables anyone to check and authenticate valid certificates. Reflecting the principles of Art. 42 GDPR, Europrivacy enables companies to demonstrate their compliance with the GDPR. Europrivacy provides an efficient mechanism to check, document, certify, value and enjoy compliance. Moreover, certification is the only mechanism that ensures effective compliance through annual audits of conformity by independent experts. A new European Data Protection Seal under GDPR has been formally delivered to Aindo, a dynamic startup in the field of synthetic data. The #Europrivacy certificate has been officially registered and delivered by DNV. This marks the first company certified for processing activities related to the generation of synthetic data in the healthcare sector. A Europrivacy certificate is delivered under Art. 43 GDPR and becomes valid once it has been registered in the official registry of Europrivacy certificates managed by the European Centre for Certification and Privacy. This enables anyone to check and authenticate certificates. What does a European Data Protection Seal mean? 1.    It is recognized by 30 countries: all EU and EEA Member States and their national supervisory authorities. 2.    It enables to check and document #GDPR compliance of data processing. 3.    It reduces the risks for all parties, including data subjects and data controllers willing to share data. 4.    It enables to focus on priority data processing activities, and progressively extend the perimeter of certification. You can put first things first. 5.    The certification transforms compliance and DPO work into a source of #value creation. 6.    It reduces efforts, costs, and risks for data controllers using certified services (Art. 28 GDPR). 7.    Certification is about effective compliance. It ensures that compliance is more than a commitment: certified data processing are regularly audited by independent and qualified professionals. 8.    Certification is recognized as a means to demonstrate data protection by design and by default. 9.    Europrivacy certification is extendable to complementary regulations to avoid multiplying your certifications. 10. Europrivacy addresses technology-specific obligations and risks for data protection, such as #artificialintelligence, #Internetofthings, and #blockchain. 11. It demonstrates good will and is a mitigating factor in case of administrative fines. 12. Last but not least, Europrivacy is supported by a global ecosystem of partners, including the largest law firms, consulting firms, certification bodies, and solution providers in data compliance who are listed on Europrivacy website.
