LFMA’s Forum will start with the panel “Central Bank Digital Currency: perspectives and potential consequences on liquidity” by Christian Pfister and then “Money Market and FX Code of Conduct - the path ahead” by Rui Correia and Vincenzo Dimase. In a context marked by geopolitical risk, the event will be continued with “In the Midst of Chaos” presented by Alastair Newton, former Diplomat of the British Foreign Service. In the third podcast of his fifth series, Alastair Newton again examines what a second Trump term would mean for investors, this time focussing principally on the US itself. In particular, he considers the implications of Donald Trump’s pick of JD Vance as his running mate, noting that Mr Vance is not only a total convert to the MAGA movement but also someone who can fill out and intellectualise Mr Trump’s sometimes inchoate thinking. It is, as he acknowledges, open to question how much influence Mr Vance would have on policy in a second Trump term. But he argues that the overall direction of travel of the Republican Party back to its historic roots is clear; and that it is with us for years to come irrespective of the outcome of the 2024 election. As part of an official visit by a high-level delegation from the Chinese province of Henan and its aviation industry to Luxembourg this week, the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) and Henan Civil Aviation Development & Investment Co. Ltd (HNCA) today took part in a special Ring the Bell ceremony to mark HNCA’s debut in international capital markets with a RMB 200 million green bond aimed at transitioning towards a more sustainable aviation industry. “The aviation industry can and must play an important role in creating a more low-carbon future. As a leader in the field of sustainable finance, we are delighted to welcome HNCA to the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and Luxembourg Green Exchange with this important green bond. Since the end of the last month North American markets (US , Canada and Mexico ) agreed to move to a one-business-day settlement cycle (T+1) from the previous two-business-days cycle (T+2). The instruments in scope are limited to US Securities settled at DTC (i.e., DTC Eligible Securities), but the impacts of the new SEC Rule introduction extend to European markets in the case of multi-listed securities traded both on American and European exchanges (European exchanges will maintain T+2 settlement cycle). This condition creates a misalignment between exchanges with different settlement cycles and consequently requires the proper management of the entitlement of rights associated with the traded securities (Corporate Actions management).
