In 2023, we granted €92m of new financing to support #Tunisia sustainable growth, targeting important sectors such as education and #SMEs. Technical expertise and sector support through EU funds is also part of our offer to demonstrate our commitment to the country. “Supporting resilient and inclusive economies is at the very heart of what we do at the EIB. Two years since the launch of Russia’s brutal invasion, European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice President Kyriacos Kakouris paid tribute to the resilience and bravery of the people of Ukraine and made the case that investing in the future of Ukraine means investing in Europe’s future. Speaking at a conference co-hosted by the EIB Group and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Athens, VP Kyriacos Kakouris detailed the pipeline of projects on which EIB bank is working on and appealed to private investors and our partners in Europe and beyond to share the opportunities arising from the massive reconstruction effort of Ukraine’s dynamic economy.

Nous sommes fiers de contribuer au renforcement du partenariat entre l'Union Européenne et la Mauritanie en signant un contrat de financement de €20m avec la BCI pour accompagner les entreprises mauritaniennes, notamment celles favorisant l'emploi des jeunes et des femmes. Il s’agit de la seconde coopération entre la BEI et la BCI en faveur des entreprises mauritaniennes après un premier partenariat en 2001. "Ce nouveau partenariat avec la BEI, établi grâce au soutien de l’Union européenne, permettra de renforcer le développement des entreprises mauritaniennes, principalement les PMEs en permettant plus particulièrement aux jeunes et aux femmes d’accéder au financement." a déclaré Markus Berndt, Directeur exécutif de la BEI Monde. "Il s’agit de la première opération de la Banque européenne d’investissement en Afrique de l’Ouest et Centrale entrant dans le cadre du nouvel Accord de Samoa entre l’Union européenne et les pays d’Afrique, des Caraïbes et du Pacifique. Nous sommes honorés de reconduire le partenariat engagé avec la BCI il y a plus de vingt ans et nous espérons ainsi renforcer notre soutien au développement du secteur privé mauritanien, tout en contribuant à créer des opportunités pour la jeunesse et les femmes de Mauritanie." In the margins of the EIB Group Forum, our President Nadia Calviño met with Prime Minister Edi Rama to discuss ways to strengthen our collaboration with Albania. #TeamEurope in action! Supported by the European Commission, together with the Agence Française de Développement and Germany’s KfW Development Bank, we are proud to embrace the Mutual Reliance Initiative (#MRI), our joint initiative for #SustainableDevelopment. The signing of a letter of intent today by three development institutions underscores our enhanced cooperation to support the Vietnam Electricity in funding the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydro Power plant construction. This project is a key step toward achieving #GlobalGateway and #JETP objectives in Vietnam, showcasing a collaborative effort to foster country’s sustainable energy transition. Together and in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), we are focused on synchronizing our efforts to secure the project’s financing by 2024, while also exploring opportunities to broaden our collaboration.

One year has passed since the devastating earthquakes hit Türkiye. We've provided €400 million to support the country’s efforts to restore water and wastewater infrastructure in the provinces affected by the earthquakes.
