What does Toms have to say about his 6 years at Mitigate? 👉🏻 A memory that stands out the most from your time at Mitigate? There are many great memories. Mostly, the shared events, especially the sports games, stand out the most. They are always unusual and challenging. This year, during the sports games, we were doing nighttime orienteering in the forest, which was an absolutely new and fantastic experience for me. 👉🏻 What do you like most about your job? The moments I like the most are when you see the "fruits" of your work. This could be the moment when you see that the client is happy with the results we’ve achieved together and that the software we’ve developed works in real-life situations and brings benefits to the client. Also, there are times when you’re solving a problem that’s been difficult to crack, and you can’t stop thinking about it, but then there’s a “click,” and you find the solution. 👉🏻 The achievement you're most proud of in your Mitigate career? I’ve grown a lot professionally at Mitigate, especially in technical knowledge, but I’m most proud of my growth as a person. I’ve grown in maturity, responsibility, and communication with colleagues and clients. 👉🏻 Which colleague have you learned the most from, and what exactly? I don’t want to highlight anyone in particular, but there are several colleagues from whom, by working together every day, you can learn a lot and gain valuable experience. There are colleagues to whom you can ask any technical question and get help, and there are colleagues whose work capacity and sense of responsibility make it seem like they have more than 24 hours in a day. 👉🏻 What advice would you give to a new colleague on their first day at work? Don’t be afraid to ask and say if there’s something you don’t know or understand. The more you realize that there’s something you don’t understand, the more you’ll know what you need to improve. I really appreciate the freedom this job offers. Not only the ability to choose the projects I participate in but also the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world. It's an invaluable benefit that allows me to find balance between work and life. 👉🏻 What achievement are you most proud of in your career at Mitigate? I'm particularly proud of the ice cream machine project. It was a challenge from the very beginning, and although I wasn't a senior at first, I eventually grew into the role of project manager. This gave me the opportunity to shape and develop the project, and seeing it grow into what it is today is truly amazing. 👉🏻 Which colleague have you learned the most from, and what exactly? I've learned the most from Ingus Skaistkalns. He is one of the best people I've had the chance to work with. He showed me how important it is to be not only a professional but also a humane person. What does Jānis have to say about his six years at Mitigate? 👉🏻 A memorable event from your time at Mitigate? The annual sports games. For me, it's like New Year's, marking the beginning and end of each work year, as I first met my Mitigate (then MAK IT) colleagues at the sports games in 2018, even before I started working at the company. Each event is special and memorable in its own way, but every year, it remains a day where the company's unity, collaboration, and shared goals are most strongly felt. 👉🏻 What do you enjoy most about your job? The dynamics. In our mobile department, it seems that no one is unfamiliar with "juggling projects." As a result, it never gets boring. Each project has its specifics, they often change, and you get to try and learn new things, "get your hands on" different technologies and approaches, and collaborate with many colleagues. 👉🏻 What achievement are you most proud of in your Mitigate career? Becoming a team lead from a developer at the beginning of this year. Now, I am responsible not only for planning my own time and tasks but also for my team's well-being. I really enjoy these new responsibilities. 👉🏻 Which colleague have you learned the most from, and what exactly? I can't name just one. There are many powerful specialists and bright, strong personalities in the team from whom I've learned a lot, both technically and in gaining insights that have positively influenced my outlook on life and continue to shape my personality. 👉🏻 What advice would you give a new colleague on their first day? Be open and friendly, communicate, and get to know people.
