The Libyan Investment Authority has signed a strategic agreement with BP. The agreement, signed at BP's headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, aims to strengthen the partnership. The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has extended Sonatrach's EPSA agreement to compensate for the period of force majeure. The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Libya, Farhat Bengdara, and the General Director of the Sonatrach Company, Rachid Hachichi, signed annexes to extend the Exploration Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) for Area 95/96 and Area 65. This extension compensates Sonatrach for the period of suspension due to force majeure situations. It was announced this week by Libya’s National Oil Company (NOC) that the Austrian energy company, OMW will resume exploratory drilling operations in Libya by February 2024. This follows the lifting of the force majeure by the company last September. Their planning and work shall begin this year and the implementation is planned for next year.
