At #CERAWeek, the spotlight is on how industries can achieve profitable decarbonization while driving sustainability and innovation. Hanane Mourchid, Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer at OCP Group, contributed to the Strategic Roundtable "Can Heavy Industries Decarbonize Profitably?", sharing insights on how agriculture and plant nutrition solutions play a key role in reducing global emissions while improving food security. Agriculture accounts for up to 24% of global GHG emissions, making decarbonization essential. Plant nutrition solutions reduce emissions by enhancing soil carbon storage, preventing degradation, and optimizing water use. They also improve nutrient absorption, making farming more resilient. 💬 Hanane Mourchid: "#Customization is a game-changer that will revolutionize global agriculture by significantly reducing its carbon footprint, enhancing #soilhealth, and improving yields. OCP Group’s approach has already prevented millions of tons of CO₂ emissions, proving that precision in fertilization is key to a low-carbon, food-secure future." Collaboration and investment in low-carbon technologies are key to overcoming regulatory challenges and building a sustainable, resilient #foodsystem. #CERAWeek #Decarbonization #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Agriculture #FoodSecurity #Innovation

We’re at #CERAWeek to engage in high-level discussions on decarbonization levers, green innovation technologies, and policies, while exploring #Africa’s pivotal role in the global energy transition. Naoufal Mahdar, Director of Decarbonization & Climate Action at OCP Group, and Till Zeino-Mahmalat, Director of Green Hydrogen & Derivatives, actively contributed to key discussions on low-carbon fertilizers, clean energy, and the role of green hydrogen in decarbonization. Naoufal Mahdar highlighted the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (#CBAM) as a strong incentive for investing in low-carbon technologies while promoting global transparency and improved environmental performance. He also outlined OCP Group’s strategy to align with CBAM requirements ensuring compliance while strengthening global food security through sustainable agricultural solutions. “OCP Group supports Europe’s ambition to achieve its green transition. We are engaged in an ambitious #GreenEnergy program while fulfilling our mission of improving #SoilHealth and food security.” Till Zeino-Mahmalat emphasized the potential of #GreenAmmonia as a hydrogen derivative for fertilizers, maritime fuel, and industrial applications. With Morocco’s high-quality renewables, strategic export position, and strong industrial ecosystem, the country is well-positioned to lead in green hydrogen production. “Green ammonia as a #hydrogen derivative presents strong market opportunities in the fertilizer industry, chemical applications, maritime fuel, and as a hydrogen carrier.” #ClimateAction #Decarbonization #GreenHydrogen CERAWeek
