نبذة عنا
From arid to green lands, Sand to Green revolutionizes agriculture with data-driven, intelligent agroforestry designs that generate multiple revenue streams, improve social capital, mitigate climate risks & reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our mission is to combat desertification, enhance biodiversity, and support local economies in vulnerable regions. We design resilient agroforestry systems that not only sustain local agriculture but also significantly reduce carbon footprints, capturing an average of 13 tons of CO2 per hectare annually. This method helps farmers tackle challenges like drought and low productivity head-on, enables miners to rehabilitate degraded sites, and allows energy producers to maximize land use efficiently. Our approach integrates cutting-edge technology with ancestral knowledge, creating sustainable models for any players operating in arid or degraded environments.

🌍 Morocco has just experienced historic floods after several years of drought. 🌧️ These extreme weather events are no longer the exception; they are becoming the rule. On one hand, lands have been dried out for years, while on the other, regions are receiving a year's worth of rainfall in just a few days. This cycle of droughts and floods is not merely a climatic fate but also a reflection of the choices we make in managing our landscapes. 🌱 👉 So, what can we do in response to these crises? Many suggest temporary solutions like adding more concrete or building higher walls. But we need to go further. The answer doesn’t lie in the cities, but much further upstream: in the landscapes themselves. At Sand to Green, we firmly believe that agroforestry is the key. 🔑 By regenerating soils with trees, sustainable crops, and responsible water management, we create landscapes that can absorb and store water. These "sponge landscapes" not only reduce floods but also capture carbon, restore biodiversity, and provide long-term food security. 🌾🌳 🤜🏻 🤛🏾 Agroforestry, a win-win solution: 💰 Economically more profitable 💰 : By integrating regenerative practices, we boost land productivity while creating new revenue streams. 🌳 Ecologically essential 🌳 : It restores ecosystems, slows desertification, and creates resilient landscapes capable of withstanding climate extremes. Let’s not be mere spectators of these climate catastrophes. Let’s act intelligently, sustainably, and economically. Together, we can build resilient ecosystems that not only endure extremes but absorb them and come out stronger. 💪 #Floods #Drought #ClimateResilience #WaterCycle Picture credit: unknown, Nick Steiner maybe?

🌱 Unlocking the Potential of Biosaline Agriculture 🌍 At Sand to Green, we're continuously pushing the boundaries of sustainable farming, even in the harshest environments. One of our recent successes in agriculture biosaline is a project in partnership with OSMOSUN® and The Salt Doctors, where we’ve been using brine with a salinity of 15g/L from our desalination machines to irrigate carefully selected halophyte species. 📸 The results after just 4 months are astounding! The photo below shows the remarkable biomass growth we’ve achieved, thanks to: 🔹 Soil preparation and amendement 🔹 Selection of the best salt-tolerant plants 🔹 A custom agroforestry model designed to maximize biomass This approach not only supports healthy plant growth but also helps in salt management. The biomass we produce stores the salt and is then harvested for uses such as animal fodder, contributing to sustainability and resource efficiency in arid regions, while extracting salt from the system. Biosaline agriculture offers immense potential for food security and ecosystem regeneration in saline-affected landscapes. We're excited to be at the forefront of these innovations! #biosalineagriculture #brinemanagement #agriculture #agroforestry #desalination

🌳 How Trees Bring Water to the Land? 🌧️ Many believe deserts are devoid of trees because there's no rain. But what if the reverse is true? What if there's no rain because there are no trees? 🤔 👉 In this insightful video by Andrew Millison, we learn how trees are not only vital for absorbing water but also play a critical role in creating and maintaining water cycles in the atmosphere and across landscapes. Trees serve as a linchpin for ecosystem and climate health, and their absence fuels the vicious drought-flood cycle we're seeing more frequently. ❓ So what if we start reforesting our deserts to fight desertification and have a regenerate water cycle❓ 👉 Although some may question the scientific validity of the idea that forests attract rain, several peer-reviewed studies support this hypothesis. These studies reveal how forested regions can influence large-scale flows of atmospheric water vapor, highlighting the often underestimated role that forests play in regulating rainfall. 🎥 Watch the full video, "How Trees Bring Water," here: https://lnkd.in/eynsRhUP #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Agroforestry #WaterCycle #Reforestation #EnvironmentalScience #ClimateHealth

😱 🌏 Humans have tilted our planet on its axis by almost 80 cm. 🌏 😱 We've pumped so much groundwater that Earth has shifted on its axis. Agriculture accounts for 70% of water withdrawals, and we're building our food production system, essential to human survival, on this finite resource. It's time to create resilient food systems. We need to foster new solutions for agriculture such as: 💦 Water harvesting and storage. ♻️ Re-using, recycling, and restoring freshwater resources. 🌳 Restoring the water cycle through forest restoration, agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and more. 💡 What about you? Do you know any innovations to promote? Together, let's ensure that human impact on the planet is positive, focusing on land and water restoration. 💪 via World Economic Forum

🌡 Impact of High Temperatures in Agriculture: The Power of Regenerative Agriculture and Agroforestry to Create Profitable & Sustainable Farms 🌍 ☀️ In the face of the rising temperatures in Morocco and Southern Europe over the past few day, traditional farming practices struggle to keep up. But there's hope on the horizon with regenerative agriculture and agroforestry! 🌾 Regenerative Agriculture restores soil health, boosts biodiversity, and increases resilience to climate extremes. Techniques like cover cropping, no-till farming, and composting help maintain soil moisture and reduce heat stress on crops. 🌳 Agroforestry integrates trees into agricultural landscapes, offering shade, improving soil structure, and increasing water retention. Trees act as windbreaks, reduce evapotranspiration, and provide habitats for beneficial wildlife. 🌱Together, these practices not only combat the effects of high temperatures but also promote sustainable food systems and environmental stewardship. Let's embrace these innovative solutions to secure a healthier future for our planet and agriculture! 💻 Using our software, we can help farmers do full site assessments and DESIGN agroforestry plantations that are profitable, climate and water resilient.
