About us

The Superyacht Eco Association (SEA Index) is a non-profit organisation, historically co-founded by the Yacht Club de Monaco and Credit Suisse. Our mission is to increase environmental transparency throughout the yachting sector and encourage industry stakeholders to embrace sustainable and eco-responsible yachting. Launched in 2020, SEA Index is the first non-biased, independent benchmark for superyachts, which empowers owners, captains, naval architects and shipyards to assess the carbon intensity of yachts over 25m. Based on IMO’s methodologies (EEDI & EEXI) and European GHG reduction strategies, the SEA Index initiative offers fully tested and robust tools, developed with maritime class societies (Lloyd’s Register & RINA), that compare the environmental impact of vessels, empowering stakeholders to enhance the sustainability of their yachts. Based in Monaco and formed under the aegis of the Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting initiative, SEA Index operates worldwide and is deployed at numerous ports, harbours and marinas.
