Historically, Samsung has used Qualcomm chips alongside its own Exynos processors in Galaxy devices, typically deploying Snapdragon in flagship models for the U.S. market and Exynos elsewhere. In 2023, Samsung shifted to using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 across the entire Galaxy S23 lineup worldwide.

However, the Galaxy S24 series saw a reversion to the dual-chip approach. Now, it seems Samsung is poised to once again commit fully to Snapdragon for its next flagship series.

Hankyung Korea Market has announced that Samsung will exclusively utilize Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors for the Galaxy S25 series, primarily due to the demands of artificial intelligence tasks. Previously, there were conflicting reports regarding Samsung's intentions.

Initially, the company had intended to introduce a custom chip specifically designed for its Galaxy flagship models, a plan that has since been abandoned. Subsequently, there were speculations about the incorporation of a 3nm Exynos chip in these forthcoming devices, and it was also suggested that Samsung might explore the option of MediaTek chips.

Samsung may alter its approach to foldable devices, as the upcoming Galaxy Z series could feature the Exynos 2500 processor, anticipated for release in 2025. This would represent a significant change, given that all previous Galaxy foldables have utilized Qualcomm processors.

The Galaxy S25 series is projected to be unveiled in January, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to make its official debut in October.
