Share Your Story on Visible Bi+

Visible Bi+ is a space for members of the Bi+/MSpec community to share their voices. We’re striving to increase authentic visibility and dispel the many misconceptions which fuel biphobia and bi-erasure.

As of 30 May 2024: We are currently accepting contributing writers. No previous writing experience necessary. We are looking for first person personal essays on Bi+/MSpec experiences — share your stories in your own voice.

Submission Guidelines:

1. You must have a Medium profile (pen names are allowed if you prefer anonymity). You can create a Medium profile free of charge.*
2. If this is your first time writing for Visible Bi+, first complete THIS FORM to request to become a contributing writer. You will receive a welcome email within 72 hours.
3. Your writing should comply with Medium’s standards and must include at least one photo with proper attribution. (Note: We do not accept Erotica.)
4. Each story needs both a title and subtitle at the top. At the end, you may add a short bio, if you wish.
5. Please submit your article as a draft. (If you are not sure how to submit a draft, view Medium’s step-by-step guide.)
6. The review of your story may take up to 1 week. You will receive a notification if your story has been accepted. We will publish no more than 1 story a day to allow each person’s work the best chance to be seen, so it may be a few more days until your story is published. Please be patient.
7. We will share your published stories on Instagram and Threads.

• You can create a profile and become a writer completely cost-free. However, Medium does offer the option to become a Member. Membership offers full access to read every story on Medium. Medium is an ad-free platform. Your membership fee allows writers in Medium’s Partner Program the opportunity to earn money for their work on Medium; members directly influence writers’ earnings through the Partner Program by what they choose to read.
• NOTE: The editor/publication does not make any money off of their writers’ work and receives no compensation for the time and effort spent creating, maintaining, and promoting this publication.
• When comparing all the options, Visible Bi+ decided to utilize Medium’s platform for its ability to reach large non-paying audiences (as this effort is for the sake of gaining visibility), as well as for its writers to have the option/opportunity to try to earn money for their work through Medium’s Partner Program.
• All writers maintain all rights to their work. Stories can be republished elsewhere. (NOTE: They cannot be duplicated on Medium, in multiple publications hosted on Medium.) We’d appreciate a link back to your original on Visible Bi+ if you republish/syndicate elsewhere. We can also syndicate/republish any previous work (not already on Medium) to which you retain the rights and will be happy to include a link back to the original publication; simply add the line/link in your submission: This story was originally published on (name of publication/link).
