Forty-five second-year middle school students from Ranomafana village planted trees in Ambodiriana this past weekend in an event led by our Education department for World Lemur Day. The students learned about the eight species of trees that were available to plant. They also learned planting techniques: the right way to hold a sapling, and the optimal size and depth of the hole.

A video series has been produced titled, "Preserving knowledge of endemic species in Madagascar through storytelling." It features interviews with research technicians and tour guides from Ranomafana National Park. TELO Albert has been a research technician in Ranomafana National Park since 1987. He is also the Ampanjaka (King) of Ambatolahy village in Madagascar. Albert has conducted research with multiple species and specializes in lemurs. He grew up in the forest before it became Ranomafana National Park, which is why he decided to become a research technician there. Albert enjoys discovering new things about lemurs and meeting researchers from around the world. When he is not working, Albert enjoys watching movies and riding his bike. The series was produced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. stacey tecot University of Arizona University of Arizona, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. https://lnkd.in/ebENqDtr
