**It’s Stress Awareness Month** As you might know BigWig Headhunters are huge advocates for mental health awareness. So it pains us to learn that the stress epidemic is now reaching alarming levels, with rates skyrocketing in recent years. At least 63% of individuals are battling stress weekly, turning it into an almost constant companion in their lives. Stress Awareness Month aims to shed light on this growing crisis, providing insights into stress triggers and offering coping mechanisms. Modern-day stressors, from financial worries to family and health concerns, contribute significantly to this epidemic. However, the primary culprit remains work-related stress, affecting a staggering 79% of individuals, with one in five taking time off due to stress in the past year. A leading mental health expert warns of the severe consequences of unchecked stress. Stress doesn't just stay in the mind—it manifests in physical ailments like heart disease and digestive issues. Moreover, it's tightly linked to mental health disorders like anxiety and depression, affecting over half of stressed adults. Mental health practitioners emphasise the crucial role of workplaces in addressing stress. Many employees feel unable to voice their concerns, exacerbating their stress levels. Employers must foster open, supportive cultures where mental health conversations are encouraged. This includes promoting tailored support systems. One such valuable resource gaining traction is Mental Health First Aid training.
