Section 22 of the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Regulations 2018 requires financial institution to have an independent audit of their AML/CFT framework. While audit frequency depends on business size and complexity, more frequent audits provide greater assurance. The AML/CFT legislation stipulates a range of fines, extending up to Rs. 10 million, and the potential for penal servitude for a period not exceeding 20 years.
