Last week, I had the opportunity to attend a workshop on Illicit Trade in Johannesburg, South Africa, organized by ICOYACA. The workshop highlighted how illicit trade significantly impacts Africa’s economy, contributing to loss of revenue, market instability, and hampering development efforts. This topic is particularly relevant to entrepreneurs like myself, as it underscores the need for stronger enforcement and regulation to create a fair and competitive business environment.
The workshop also allowed me to network with a diverse group of delegates from across Southern Africa, exchanging insights and ideas on how to combat these challenges and build stronger, more sustainable businesses. As an entrepreneur, I found this experience invaluable in broadening my perspective on market dynamics and understanding how illicit trade disrupts sectors that are vital for growth.
The connections and knowledge gained from this event will undoubtedly shape my approach to business, helping me navigate challenges while contributing to solutions that drive economic resilience and sustainability across Africa.
