One way that Tiyeni measures the impact of our work is through household surveys with DBF farmers and their families. We are always thrilled to get such valuable first-hand feedback of how #thetiyenieffect is transforming lives! #smallholderfarmers #climatesmartagriculture #malawi
About us
Tiyeni is a Malawian and UK NGO empowering smallholder farmers to eradicate poverty and hunger in Malawi and neighbouring African countries, through climate smart agriculture and working with communities on the conservation of their natural resources. Food and water are critical for life. Our Deep Bed Farming method transforms farmer livelihoods and health, whilst harvesting water, improving habitats and making land more resilient to climate change. Our results have been spectacular - typically doubling and often tripling crop yields from one harvest to the next. These results are sustained and even improved over time as we build healthy soils. We do not rely on incentives and inputs to promote adoption of our methods: instead, we respond to demand for our farming technology. Word is spreading so fast that we cannot keep up with demand from farmers for training. Tiyeni means "Let's Go!" in Chichewa, Malawi's most widely spoken language.

Linley Divala is a DBF farmer from Kummayani Village, central Malawi. In addition to the well-known benefits of DBF like improved crop yields and resilience to climate change, Linley spoke with our team about how much she loves the social interaction, group synergy, and knowledge sharing that Tiyeni's Decentralised Demonstration Garden method encourages. #smallholderfarmers #climatesmartagriculture #malawi

Exciting update! Our friends at The Chophouse Video Services have teamed up with Tiyeni to make a mini documentary about Tiyeni as well as some training videos that can be shared between farmers. This exciting development will help expand our reach even more! The team at The Chophouse have (extremely) generously opted to raise the funds for this work themselves. They have already raised the majority, but would appreciate donations from supporters like you to reach the final amount. You can donate to their campaign on Indiegogo here: https://lnkd.in/e9zD5CKw
