Fear of hunger and disease. Fear of violence, conflict and exploitation. Fear that robs them of a childhood. Our local staff work in thousands of communities across the world to free children from fear. They know the names and stories of each child they help to support. They live and work alongside them, their families and communities to help change the world they live in for good. Our worldwide presence means we're quick to respond to emergencies like conflict and natural disasters. We also use our influence and global reach to ensure that children are represented at every level of decision-making. Founded more than 65 years ago by American missionary, Bob Pierce, our vision is of a world where every child has the chance to live life to the full. A world where each child is loved, protected and cared for, and enjoys good health and an education. A world where every child is free from fear. We want you to be part of making this vision a reality. Just like our staff all over the world, you’ll get to know the names of the children you help. You can sponsor, donate, pray, campaign or simply share their stories. However you choose to become involved, you will experience what it means to bring real and lasting change to children in the world’s hardest places. Do you have a child protection or adult beneficiary concern or any other concern regarding World Vision's work or staff conduct? World Vision is committed to taking action on every safeguarding report we receive.

In Mchekecha Village, Traditional Authority Phambala in Ntcheu district, Community Health Promoter Martha Mauta waxes lyrical about how timed targeted Counselling (ttC) given to pregnant women yields positive results. Martha testifies that, since World Vision Malawi introduced the timed targeted Counselling project for pregnant women, there have been reduced cases of stillborn babies and other complications associated with childbirth. Through TTC, pregnant mothers start receiving counseling early which means they are monitored regularly by Community Health Promoters at home and nurses at the clinic. "This helps because any problem is detected at an early stage. Besides, through regular checking the pregnant woman receives all the required advice such as the type of food to eat, how to conduct herself in different situations to safeguard the baby inside," says Martha. World Vision under our Maternal and Child Health intervention introduced timed targeted Counseling (ttC) to improve maternal-child health by encouraging women to start visiting antenatal clinics from the first month of the pregnancy, save for childbirth and receive proper care until the child reaches 2 years. #ttcjourney |#ttc |#childhealth |#ChildHealthCare |#ChildHealthAwareness |#maternalhealth World Vision USA

Some hospitals in Malawi are receiving increased cases of child malnutrition due to acute food shortages that have hit the country. The situation is worse in rural areas where, due to high inflation, most people cannot afford to buy food. One of the Health Surveillance Assistants, for Kapeni Health Centre in the area of Traditional Authority Phambala in Ntcheu district, says for the first time, the clinic has recorded 16 children under malnutrition status which is the highest number ever since he started working at the facility. "This is the highest number of children to be placed under special malnutrition care at the health centre. In the past, we used to record only four or five cases. One of the causes for this high number of malnutrition is hunger situation in the country which is making it difficult for mothers to feed their children," he says. A World Food Programme September report reveals that 5.7 million people will be acutely food insecure in Malawi between October 2024 and March 2025. #enough #endchildhunger #endchildmalnutrition #jointheefforts World Vision World Vision USA World Food Programme UNICEF CARE ActionAid

Disasters like El Niño continue to drive #hunger, disrupting #food production and local economies. The Integrated Resilience Program, a joint initiative by World Vision Malawi and the Government funded by World Food Programme Malawi has transformed Tikondane Smallholder Farmers' Group Nyambalo in T/A Nkhumba in Phalombe. Before the project, farmers were struggling to make ends meet as they only relied on rain-fed agriculture that often resulted in crop failure and food insecurity. The irrigation scheme now yields a bounty of crops year-round, addressing climate change and food #insecurity. The project has not only improved farmers food security, but has also increased their income levels since they are now able to plant and harvest crops throughout the year, regardless of the devastating effect of #climate change such as the current El Nino. The increase in farmers income has empowered them to support families and become self-sufficient. "We have surplus food and income, a new lease on life!". Explains Luka, the Chairperson of the Tikondane Irrigation Scheme and farmer. #Resilience #Livelihoods #ClimateActionNow #WorldVisionMalawi

Like many other health centers in Malawi, Nkumaniza Health Centre in Chikwawa district faces numerous challenges during the administration of health care services. This has prompted us, World Vision Malawi to partner with Nation Publications Limited through Mother's Fun Run to address some of the health challenges affecting the health sector in Malawi. “Since the inception of the Mother's Fun Run Initiative, World Vision has supported it with various medical items. However, this year, World Vision has taken a bold step to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure that Mother’s Fun Run is given priority in its work,” Charles Chimombo, World Vision’s Director of Operations.
