 Countdown to ECD Week in Malawi! Yamba Malawi is excited to join the countdown to Early Childhood Development (ECD) Week 2024 under this year’s powerful theme: "Quality Early Learning Foundation for Literacy and Numeracy: Invest in Safe Early Childhood Development Environments." The week begins with a launch in Rumphi District on November 11th, followed by workshops in Mzuzu through November 15th. This ECD Week, Yamba Malawi, along with parents, educators, policymakers, and ECD advocates, will spotlight how a quality early learning foundation in literacy and numeracy can unlock a brighter future for every child in Malawi. Together, we’ll explore how safe and supportive early learning environments can set the stage for children’s lifelong success. Yamba Malawi MEAL Manager, Kingsley Mologo, greets NGORA CEO Edward Chileka Banda at the NGORA workshop in Blantyre earlier this month. These workshops foster transparency and accountability and provide a platform for best practices and alignment with regulatory requirements. At the meeting, Kingsley actively engaged in discussions highlighting the importance of collaboration between NGOs and NGORA, Malawi’s regulatory authority.

Strengthening Human Capital through Professional HR Practices 🌍 Our Human Resources team at Yamba Malawi recently had the privilege of attending the Institute of People Management in Malawi’s (IPMM) Annual General Conference in Mangochi. The conference highlighted critical strides towards professionalizing the Human Resources sector in Malawi, with insights from notable leaders, including Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba. Zamba emphasized the need for laws regulating HR practices in Malawi to drive productivity and enhance efficiency across both public and private sectors. She spoke of an upcoming bill aimed at establishing legal frameworks to empower HR professionals and foster environments where staff are supported, protected, and driven by best practices. IPMM President Godwin Sam Ng'oma echoed this sentiment, expressing how the proposed IPMM Act would address significant regulatory gaps, ultimately strengthening human resource management practices across the nation. Social protection empowers individuals, families, and communities to build resilience and self-sufficiency. The guest of honor, Minister of Gender Hon. Jean M. Sendeza, visited the FARMSE pavilion to learn more about the Tikwere Project and its positive impact on livelihoods across Malawi. Yamba Malawi participated in Non Governmental Organisations Day (NGO Day) at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre with President Lazarus Chakwera in attendance with other government ministers. Together they reviewed pavilions set up by in country NGOs illustrating program interventions and impact. NGO Day recognizes the contributions of NGOs to Malawi's growing quality of life. #yambamalawi #ngoday

Yamba Malawi received press coverage this week as one of the five implementing partners of the Tikwere project. Tikwere, meaning "rise and thrive", embodies our commitment to ending poverty by improving the social economic status of households, expanding financial inclusion, extending economic opportunities and improving food and nutrition security for families in the Phalombe district. The Tikwere project, part of the FARMSE initiative, is funded by the Malawian Government with the support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
