The UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, the Rt Hon. David Lammy MP visited Shanghai as part of his first official China visit. The British Council and the British Consulate-General Shanghai organised a reception to welcome the Foreign Secretary and to introduce our stakeholders and priorities across the arts, education and business sectors. The reception brought together over 200 of our key partners and stakeholders from Shanghai and wider China, to celebrate and acknowledge the strong ties between the UK and China in arts, education and business. 🎧🎛 In 2022, we part-funded the first-ever Boiler Room broadcast from #Pakistan, a show celebrating the country's emerging dance music community and its rich heritage of live performance, as part of Pakistan/UK New Perspectives. DJ Lyla, a trailblazing female DJ from #Pakistan seized this unique opportunity to perform. Her entry into the music scene had been no mean feat. DJ Lyla’s Boiler Room set made history, garnering over 500,000 views on YouTube and paving the way for performances around the world! ‘It was a great way to showcase Pakistani artists on a global scale and has done wonders for all those involved. I didn't expect the views to be as high as they were, and I am grateful that listeners enjoyed my set!
