Following our recent Firm-wide Lunar New Year celebrations where cheeky lions roamed our halls while blessing our workstations with symbols of wealth and prosperity, we couldn't let the festive season pass us by without celebrating in (almost) similar style with our valued clients as well! This week, we hosted a Lunar New Year Luncheon, bringing together the Firm and our clients for an afternoon of light-hearted chatter and meaningful connections, and in true Malaysian style, the sharing of several courses of scrumptious food. With many of us dressed in suitably festive fashion, it was a very resplendent sight to behold. Of course, any Lunar New Year celebration would not be complete without the lively and time-honoured tradition of tossing the Yee Sang – a symbol of success, abundance, good fortune and enduring partnerships. It was indeed heartwarming to see everyone coming together to toss the Yee Sang as high as possible (for more luck) and hearing the energetic shouts of “Gong Xi Fa Cai”, “Huat Ah” and “more wealth/ bonus” echoing around the room. Last week, we held our annual Lunar New Year festivities where we gathered as a Firm to collectively celebrate and usher in the Year of the Snake. We welcomed the energetic Lion Dance troupe, gracing each of our workstations and working tirelessly to grace us with their presence and to bestow upon us all its blessings of wealth (oranges, pineapples and pomelos) and prosperity (in particular the confetti of lettuce).   We are honoured that our new level played host to our luncheon, with a customary lou sang (tossing of the Yee Sang dish), drowned by the deepest desires and wishes of all our colleagues of great wealth, prosperity and good health.   We concluded in good spirits, with the crowd voting for our best-dressed individuals and a lucky draw competition.   CLO wishes you a Happy Lunar New Year and prosperous Year of the Snake, and a Happy Chap Goh Meh!   #christopherleeong #CLO #LunarNewYear #RTA #RajahTann #lawyers #yearofthesnake

The Kuala Lumpur High Court recently dismissed an application for a judicial management order, and in its decision introduced procedural safeguards to prevent the abuse of the judicial management process.   This case involved a financially-distressed company facing its sixth application for a judicial management order against it, this time by one of its creditors who was making its third application for a judicial management order against the company. Another player in this case is another one of its creditors, who contended that the multiple applications were an abuse of process filed to take unfair advantage of the automatic moratorium arising on a filing of such an application. This past weekend marked an incredible milestone as Christopher & Lee Ong participated in the 10th Anniversary of the KL Bar Run with a record-breaking 176 participants representing our contingent. This event brought together our colleagues from the Rajah & Tann Asia Network including Rajah & Tann Singapore, Rajah & Tann (Thailand) Limited, Assegaf Hamzah & Partners and Gatmaytan Yap Patacsil Gutierrez & Protacio (C&G Law), along with clients, friends, and family, in a true celebration of camaraderie, athleticism, and regional unity. To all who joined us, thank you for making this event such a memorable success—we hope you enjoyed the warm Malaysian hospitality of CLO! CLO is proud to have participated in every KL Bar Run since its inception in 2015, and we’re thrilled to continue this tradition of excellence. Over the years, we have consistently delivered podium finishes, including four championship titles. This year was no exception, with CLO teams making an impressive mark: 5 teams placed in the Top 20 teams.
