🌏 KAS Malaysia Event Recap: Launch of “The Economic Race in Southeast Asia – and why Europe is falling behind” ⌛ Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting an impactful event at the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry | AHK Malaysia (MGCC) with the launch of an eye-opening publication by Professor Dr. Edmund Terence Gomez and Dr. Denis Suarsana. Their paper, "The Economic Race in Southeast Asia – and why Europe is falling behind," sheds light on the reasons behind the EU's struggles in establishing competitive trade footholds in Southeast Asia, particularly when compared to the US, Japan, and especially China. The event sparked lively debates, direct questions, and constructive discussions on the complex dynamics of trade and economic influence in the region. The insights shared provided a fresh perspective on the importance of strategic economic approaches and the need for adaptive policies by European nations to keep pace in this rapidly evolving landscape. We are especially grateful to Christian Echle, our Head of Department of Asia/Pacific at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, for joining us and delivering the closing remarks. 🎉 👏 Thank you to all our guests, participants, and especially our authors for contributing to such a meaningful dialogue on Southeast Asia's economic future. 👏 The publication can be found in English and German at this link: https://lnkd.in/gj4_r27X #KAS4Innovation #Economics #SoutheastAsia #Europe #GlobalEconomy #KAS #Trade

🌟 AccelerateHER Leadership Lab 1.2! 🌟 We are excited to share the successful completion of our AccelerateHER Leadership Lab 1.2, held on 25-26 September 2024 in Ipoh, Perak! 🎉 This collaborative lab between Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Malaysia and the Institut Pemikiran Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at Universiti Utara Malaysia was a follow-up to our impactful May event in Kedah. It once again brought together 24 incredible women in politics from Kedah, Perak, and Perlis, including party leaders and ADUNs from across the political spectrum. 💪 The lab featured three transformative sessions: 💡 Campaigning via Social Media: Building Your Brand Image with Mr. Zain Amri, The Brand Mentalist. 💡 Persuasive Communication in Public Speaking: Tips & Tricks by Associate Professor Dr. Azlina Kamaruddin, UUM. 💡 Combatting Hate Online by Professor Dr. Mohd. Azizuddin Mohd. Sani, UUM. The energy and commitment brought to the session were inspiring, as these brilliant women continue working to enhance their leadership capacities and advocate for increased women’s representation in Malaysia's political sphere. The bonds formed in Kedah were further strengthened in Ipoh, proving the power of sustained collaboration. 🚀 📣 Let’s continue to build on this momentum, empowering women to take the lead and shape a more inclusive political future for all.
