As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, it paints the sky in brilliant hues of orange. Captured by Jack Kali aboard Seri Camellia whilst anchored at Bintulu Off-Port Limits, Sarawak. This moment reflects the quiet beauty that seafarers cherish amid the demands of life at sea. Enroute to Chita, Japan, Seri Camellia sails on, but memories of serene sunsets like this stay with the crew long after the journey ends. #MovingEnergy #MISC #deliveringProgress #LifeatSea

LNG carriers play a critical role in global energy transportation, enabling the safe and efficient delivery of liquefied natural gas to markets worldwide. While built to withstand extreme conditions, their lifespans can vary depending on structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and various other factors. The Hong Kong Convention provides guidelines on the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships to ensure they meet sustainability standards. In the maritime industry, the longevity of ship components is crucial for operational efficiency and safety. Given these factors, LNG carriers nearing the end of their typical lifespan may be decommissioned, retrofitted with new environmental technologies, or converted into Floating Storage Units (FSUs) or Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) to extend their service life and support energy transition needs. The precise timeline for these transitions depends heavily on global regulatory frameworks and market demands. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! #MovingEnergy #MISC #deliveringProgress #MISC #MaritimeTrivia #LNG

Floating storage improves the product logistics value chain by enhancing efficiencies, offering scalability and flexibility for fluctuating demands. They play a critical role in supporting the adoption of LNG and ammonia as fuels and can aid in carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiatives. MISC drives sustainable innovations by repurposing these high value end-of-service ocean-going vessels to Floating Storage Units extending their lifespan and supporting a circular economy in shipping. By reducing the need for new land-based infrastructure and minimising emissions, Floating Storage solutions help build a more resilient maritime supply chain, contributing to the global energy transition. #MovingEnergy #MISC #deliveringProgress #FloatingStorage
