E-wallets in Malaysia offer many choices, but 6 brands stand out and dominate the market. Touch n’ Go (TnG) has been the market leader for 2024, followed by MAE and GrabPay. As most of us are aware, TNG eWallet is widely available for tolls, parking, online payment and many more. While MAE is primarily used for online/offline retail, peer-to-peer, etc. Meanwhile, GrabPay, Boost, ShopeePay and BigPay are number are nowhere near the top 2 brands for the past years. The rapid growth of EV ownership has led to the demand for charging stations and it has created pressure on state government to support such facilities. In line with the government’s goal, we are targeting 50% EV ownership by 2030.  As a result, Penang will be expected to operate 600 Electric Vehicle Charging Bays (EVCB) by the end of the year. As such, there will be a challenge for the island area due to it having a constrained space and parking facilities. In 2024, there was a significant leap in digital bank, with three new digital banks launched in alignment with the government's direction. Oppotus took the initiative to measure digital banking usage to better understand the future of banking. Our findings revealed that while 50% of consumers are non-users, an encouraging 70% are considering adopting digital banking. With two more digital banks set to launch, we anticipate even greater adoption in 2025.
