A WIN FOR INCLUSIVE EDUCATION! 🥳 Taarana, a special needs school founded by the RYTHM Foundation in Malaysia, has been honoured as the Best Special Education Centre of the Year at the prestigious PEEAM Eduawards 2024! This award from the Private Educational Entrepreneur Association of Malaysia (PEEAM) recognises the Taarana School’s endeavours in empowering and uplifting neurodivergent children from all walks of life with a compassionate and integrative approach to intervention, learning, and relationship-building. 💪🏽 While we celebrate this recognition of our efforts in inclusivity, we sincerely hope that the work of empowering the neurodiverse one day moves beyond something to be commended for, to being the norm. ✨ #RiseWithRYTHM #EducationForAll #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters

Celebrating a new milestone in #EducationForAll and #DisabilityInclusion! Continuing the success of our efforts at Ghana National Inclusive School (GNIS) over the last few years with our on-ground partner, The ANOPA Project, we’re expanding to support two new schools in Cape Coast and Accra! Disability rights and autism acceptance continue to be a challenge in developing nations around the world. But through this expansion, we hope to shift perspectives on disability and neurodiversity, and make societal inclusivity the norm in West Africa. Despite the lack of female representation in policymaking, governance, and law enforcement in developing countries, women have played a pivotal role in nation-building for countless years. Yet women who seek participation in these critical areas often face hostility and prejudice, among other challenging barriers, discouraging other women from exploring roles that shift the power imbalances in society. #GenderEquality is a necessary component of community development, leading to enhanced governance and a more inclusive approach to crafting and implementing laws and policies. On the #InternationalDayofWomeninDiplomacy, we highlight the importance of creating opportunities for underprivileged girls and women to gain independence and explore roles in legislation or civil service by revisiting the story of Poonam Deshmukh from rural Maharashtra, India. Poonam's simple steps toward independence led to an even bigger dream: That of becoming a lawyer, and helping other girls like her! Forced displacement is one of the most traumatic experiences to ever exist. Along with losing one’s home and possessions, separation from loved ones, the loss of their livelihood, and lack of security and safety, refugees are thrust into a world filled with uncertainties that drive some to desperation and despair. Since its first observation in 2001, #WorldRefugeeDay has served as a beacon of hope for the displaced, shining a light on the persistent challenges that plague refugees while also celebrating the progress in inclusivity, recognition, and integration. Together, we can shape a world where survivors of conflict, persecution, and extreme climate disasters are welcomed and empowered to build their lives anew. 🌱 #RiseWithRYTHM #Inclusivity #CommunityDevelopment

“As we look to the future, we must remember that real progress is not just about policy updates or legislative changes. It is measured by our everyday actions to support and uplift those around us.” What will it take to bring about progress and inclusivity for disabled people? In the face of potential changes to the Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 in Malaysia, the RYTHM Foundation Chairperson, Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, tackles the challenges faced by people with disabilities and the kind of steps and mechanisms that must be taken to make the Disabilities Act effective. According to the United Nations, approximately 160 million children worldwide are engaged in child labour activities that are hazardous and detrimental to their growth. Children forced into labour miss out on opportunities for education and upward mobility, limiting their potential and perpetuating the cycle of poverty. On the World Day Against Child Labour, we at the RYTHM Foundation reiterate the need for a stronger and more holistic approach that ensures children are educated and legally protected, while alleviating the economic pressure that forces impoverished families to choose child labour in the first place. Together, we can create a future where all children have the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential! #RiseWithRYTHM #EndChildLabour #EducationForAll #CommunityDevelopment

The future is in good hands! 🙌🏾 At a recent company convention of a Qi Group subsidiary in Penang, Malaysia, Team RYTHM engaged several primary school children to find out their thoughts about the challenges we face as a society, and how we can all rise for the future through small yet meaningful initiatives that contribute to shaping a better and more inclusive world. 🌎 We’re excited for what the next generation is gearing up to do for people, progress, and the future! 🚀 #RiseWithRYTHM #StartThemYoung #CommunityDevelopment #EndPoverty #InclusionMatters

While many of us often take clean water for granted, access to this basic human need remains a challenge for millions of people in the African continent. Without safe and clean water, communities struggle to sustain themselves and entire populations are at risk for life-threatening diseases and infections like cholera, typhoid, and shigellosis. For #ThrowbackThursday, we share another story from our archives featuring Maggie, a Tanzanian mother whose life was transformed with the help of Water for Africa AU and RYTHM Foundation's water well initiative. Now a farmer with her own small plot of land, Maggie reflects on how this community intervention changed her life, and how she might be able to positively impact others in the future, too!
