Deepfake, also known as Synthetic Media, is 98% convincing. Advancing AI can now generate videos, images, and voices that are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. Deepfakes have been used in social engineering attacks, tricking businesses into transferring millions of dollars! Fake political or celebrity videos can influence opinions and spread false narratives across social media. There are a few red flags to look for, to distinguish a Deepfake video: > Mismatched lip movements > Unnatural eye blinks or movements > Background flickering > Audio-video sync issues Stay safe and be vigilant. We had the pleasure of hosting the Digital Ninja team, organized by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) at CCoE, Malaysia! This #DigitalNinja initiative trains students on digital projects and prepares them for competitions. We started the day by taking them down memory lane with a look at the iconic BlackBerry mobile phones. Next, we played the Whisper Game, which had everyone laughing as messages hilariously twisted, emphasizing how online information can get distorted. Our cybersecurity trainer, Nur Huda Athirah Abd Latib, then led an engaging and interactive cybersecurity awareness training session, where students eagerly participated and won prizes for their quiz knowledge. It was fantastic to see a strong turnout of female students, which is incredibly encouraging! By the end of the visit, the students left with a solid grasp of cybersecurity basics. We wish them all the best in their upcoming competition! Han Ther L. Jaclyn Sim Gustav Brunner Ezzah Khan Noorfadilah Kamarulzaman #bbccoe #DigitalNinja #mdec #cybersecurityawareness

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU / APIIT) at our CCoE, Malaysia. We kicked off the day with an engaging office tour, followed by an insightful session on cybersecurity career paths delivered by our Principal Cybersecurity Trainer, Jaclyn Sim. Their eagerness to learn was evident, as they even used part of their lunch break to delve deeper into discussions about future careers in cybersecurity. After lunch, the focus shifted to cybersecurity awareness training, where the students demonstrated their enthusiasm by asking numerous questions throughout the day. It was a rewarding experience to see such passion and curiosity from the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Thank you to Ts. Dr. Maythem Kamal Abbas for bringing the students over and thanks to everyone involved for making this visit a success. Han Ther L.
