Leading retailers CJ CheilJedang and Shinsegae have partnered to expand their home meal replacement offerings, developing and marketing customized products like processed rice and dumplings to cater to their shared customer base.
The two retailers announced Wednesday that they discussed expanding bilateral cooperation across all sectors including manufacturing, logistics and product development. CJ CheilJedang co-CEO Kang Shin-ho, Emart CEO Han Chae-yang and other executives attended the meeting, which was a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding the two companies signed in June.
Building on their existing partnership, Shinsegae and CJ have agreed to expand the selection of CJ products available at Emart, SSG.com and other Shinsegae affiliates, including Emart Traders and Emart Everyday. These new offerings will be tailored to meet customer needs based on market and consumer data, focusing on trends like convenient meal solutions and timesaving products.
The two companies will also enhance their collaboration in marketing. Shinsegae's Emart will feature a dedicated CJ brand page on its online malls, and both firms will promote each other's products on their social media platforms, with plans to keep creating special content to further publicize their collaboration.
Since last year, CJ CheilJedang and Shinsegae have partnered to develop and launch exclusive products. The collaboration included early access to CJ CheilJedang products such as processed rice Hetbahn and dumpling products on the department store's platforms and unique goods like Bibigo Bungeoppang and Hetbahn Ganghwa Island Rice that are available exclusively through Shinsegae.
"Leveraging our combined expertise and extensive customer base, we will introduce innovative products that directly enhance customers' lifestyles," said an Emart spokesperson.
