Green Hydrogen is more than just an energy solution—it represents a complete value chain that could revolutionize Namibia’s economy. From producing hydrogen to driving industrial growth in sectors like Green Hot Briquetted Iron production and critical raw materials processing, the potential is immense. Key facts: 1. Namibia’s Green Industrialisation Blueprint estimates that fully developing our synthetic fuel strategy could create up to 250,000 jobs. 2. These include 185,000 direct jobs in building and operating renewable energy infrastructure and 70,000 jobs in related industries like metals production and business services. To ensure Namibians can participate fully in this transformation, we must develop the right skills—from technical expertise to management, safety, and policy knowledge. The Green Hydrogen Council is actively addressing this by awarding 183 scholarships in green hydrogen-related fields and allocating €2 million to vocational skills development in the //Karas and Hardap regions. Debunking the myths about Green Hydrogen jobs: 1. It’s not just for scientists and engineers. The sector needs diverse talents in business, law, management, and more. 2. Green hydrogen jobs offer competitive salaries. 3. There’s a high demand for skilled professionals, with eight projects already in development across Namibia. By investing in education, training, and skills development, we’re building the foundation for Namibia’s industrial future. The youth are encouraged to pursue relevant education and prepare themselves for the opportunities this sector will provide. Namibia is positioned to be a global leader in Green Hydrogen, and with the right investment in skills, we can ensure this industry uplifts communities and transforms our economy. The Green Hydrogen Trade Mission to Namibia is underway. We’re hosting an array of different companies from the Netherlands working in Green Hydrogen including Invest International, Van Oord, ALKALIUM BV and ResH2. Today, the companies are visiting Daures Green Hydrogen Village. The Daures Green Hydrogen Village is constructing its pilot proof of concept facility in the Daures Constituency, which is Namibia's largest constituency with majority of persons surviving under 1USD per day. The pilot will produce 18 tons of green hydrogen and 100 tons of green ammonia and will be launched in Q4 2024. #trademission #greenhydrogen #greenenergy #namibia
