The NBC was established in line with the Namibian Broadcasting Act, Act 9 of 1991. In terms of this act, the NBC is a juristic person. Its main source of funding is an annual state subsidy. Other sources of income are the sale of air time and programs, the issuing of yearly television licenses and the renting out of transmitters.

This announcement comes in response to inquiries from the public regarding whether voting day is a public holiday. "In accordance with the powers vested in the President by Section 1(3) of the Public Holidays Act, 1990 (Act No. 26 of 1990), H.E. President Nangolo Mbumba has declared Wednesday, November 27, 2024, as a public holiday. This declaration has been made to facilitate the general election for the election of the President and members of the National Assembly, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2014 (Act No. 5 of 2014)," the statement reads. President Mbumba urged all eligible voters to take this opportunity to fulfill their democratic duty by turning out in large numbers and exercising their constitutional right to vote. Justice Hosea Angula has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court, effective 1 December. President Nangolo Mbumba made the appointment following the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission. Justice Angula’s legal career spans 39 years, beginning with his admission to practice as an attorney in the former Supreme Court of South West Africa. He currently holds the position of Deputy Judge-President of the High Court, a role he has fulfilled since 2015.
