In a rapidly changing world, AI is reshaping jobs across industries, and Namibians must upskill to keep pace. AI is no longer futuristic—it’s transforming today’s work, especially in data analysis, process automation, and customer service in fields like financial services. By demystifying AI, from basics to applications, we can empower everyone, from entry-level staff to managers, to adapt and innovate. This shift requires rethinking education, integrating AI skills into roles, and promoting ongoing learning, which will be essential to building a competitive, future-ready workforce in Namibia. #OldMutualNamibia #AIAdoption #WorkplaceReadiness

Affordable housing is critical to Namibia’s development, as evidenced by the launch of Old Mutual Namibia’s Housing Fund in August 2024 with an initial N$50 million investment to support affordable housing projects. The government has set ambitious targets, aiming to build over 20 000 houses through the Fifth National Development Plan and 47 622 houses by 2030, focusing especially on ultra-low to middle-income groups. With around 230 000 families living in informal settlements, the revised National Housing Policy and initiatives like the Informal Settlement Upgrade Pilot Project aim to address these urgent needs, creating accessible paths toward decent housing and improved living standards. #OldMutualNamibia #AffordableHousing #AlternativeInvestment

In Namibia, cash remains essential for many, despite the growing popularity of digital transactions. While around 67% of Namibians held a bank account in 2017, a significant number still prefer cash savings at home, with 30% keeping money outside banks in 2021, driven by convenience and the avoidance of banking fees. For those with limited access to bank services, cash offers immediate use for daily expenses like groceries, transport, and emergencies. Informal traders and low-income workers also rely heavily on cash for practicality. With over N$5.2 billion in circulation in 2023, cash continues to play a central role in the financial system, as recognised by the Bank of Namibia, although it comes with security risks. The enduring significance of cash for Namibians highlights both its accessibility and the need for gradual adoption of electronic channels. #OldMutualNamibia #FinancialEducation
