These are the eighth and ninth aircraft that COMAC has delivered to Chinese airlines after the C919 received an airworthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2022. Earlier, seven aircraft had already been delivered to its first global operator, China Eastern Airlines, and its maiden commercial flights were carried out on May 28, 2023, from Shanghai to Beijing.
Air China announced that it has ordered 100 C919s to be delivered between 2024 and 2031. Separately, 100 C919s have also been ordered by China Southern Airlines. Meanwhile, global orders placed for the C919 have exceeded 1,000.
