India clinch T20 World Cup title

The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was co-hosted by the United States and West Indies in June. The final – at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on 29 June – came to a nail-biting conclusion with India beating South Africa by seven runs to win their first World Cup title since the inaugural tournament in 2007.

The BCCI had earlier announced a whopping prize money of Rs 125 crore for the players and support staff. This was India's second success at the T20 World Cup, ending a 17-year wait since MS Dhoni's team lifted the trophy first in the tournament's inaugural edition in 2007.

India won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 second time by defeating South Africa in the final. This marks India's second title, ending a 13-year wait for an ICC trophy. West Indies and England have also won the tournament twice.

In the bowling department, Arshdeep Singh finished as the highest wicket-taker along with Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi as both pacers took 17 wickets each during the tournament. According to the ICC website, Farooqi is at the top because he had a better strike rate than Arshdeep.
