The Hard Rock Hotel’s glass curtain wall is closing in on the final floors of the 35-story project at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square. Developed by Extell and Hard Rock International, the structure made incredible progress over the past few months, reaching its 442-foot-tall parapet in the blink of an eye. The 291,000-square-foot development will contain 446 guest rooms, two entertainment venues, flexible meeting spaces, round-the-clock dining options, a fitness center, and a rooftop lounge. 150 West 48th Street’s Foundations Taking Shape in Times Square

Foundation work is taking shape at 150 West 48th Street, the site of a 974-room hotel in Times Square. The 300,216-square-foot structure is designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, which purchased the property from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 for $140 million, and received a $250 million construction loan before breaking ground. Located between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, the project will be one of the largest hotels in the city when complete.

Maverick’s Black-and-White Envelope Reaches Roof Parapet at 215 West 28th Street in Chelsea

The charcoal and white curtain wall panels have made it to the top of Maverick, a 300,000-square-foot residential development at 215 West 28th Street in Chelsea. Designed by DXA Architects and developed by HAP Investments, the project consists of a pair of identical 20-story buildings that stand 210 feet tall. The property is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and is alternately addressed as 215-219 West 28th Street and 221-229 West 28th Street.

Stevens Institute of Technology’s Expansion Nears the Halfway Mark in Hoboken, New Jersey

Construction is nearing the halfway mark on the much-anticipated Student Housing and University Center at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Design Collective and Wallace Roberts and Todd are the designers of the development, which consists of 16- and 18-story towers that rise from a three-story 70,000-square-foot base. The project aims to house 994 students, helping accommodate Steven’s projected campus population of 3,500.
