Excavation Underway at 159 West 48th Street, Future Home of Hard Rock Hotel, Times Square

On a plot of land along 48th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, excavation has begun for a 445-key Hard Rock Hotel, designed by Berg+ Moss Architects. The hotel’s Times Square outpost will be developed by Extell in a partnership with Hard Rock International, with an address at 159 West 48th Street. Extell purchased the site back in 2011 for $26 million, along with air rights that bring the project up to a potential scope of 225,000 square feet.

Trinity Church’s Office Tower at 68-74 Trinity Place Making Headway in the Financial District

The steel superstructure for 68-74 Trinity Place is now rising quickly into the Financial District’s neighborhood skyline. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, with Stephen B. Jacobs Group as the executive architect, the 26-story building is being developed by Trinity Real Estate, and will include around 310,000 square feet of rentable office space that will start from the seventh floor and continue up to the top of the nearly 500-foot-tall tower.

The Walt Disney Company Sets Eyes on 4 Hudson Square, Lower Manhattan

The Walt Disney Company’s chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger has announced the company’s future New York headquarters will encompass a full city block bounded by Hudson Street, Varick Street, Vandam and Spring Street, in Hudson Square. Rev. Dr. Willaim Lupher of Trinity Church sold the air rights, with the help of CBRE, allowing Disney to develop and take ownership of 4 Hudson Square for 99 years, at a cost of $650 million.
