Are you changing careers or looking for a professional development opportunity? Seeking a leadership/managerial position? Applying to jobs? Do you have a job interview coming up? If you answered yes to some or all of these questions, then, this book is for you. Many employers depend on competency-based interview questions, and the interview can be daunting and nerve-wracking. The author has learned that even the most qualified and exceptional candidate fails to stand out in the competency-based interview. This fact birthed The Secret To Nailing The Competency-Based Interview: What You Need To Know. Given that the educational system does not prepare many for the job market, the author of this book has taken the initiative to hone employability skills. The question and answer section in this book is split into two parts. The first part talks about how to effectively communicate or articulate your skills, experience, qualifications, accomplishment, recognition and background during the job interview. The second section talks about how to effectively communicate or articulate your skills and experiences using the competency-based interviewing (CBI) standard or style used within the UN system. Competency-based interview questions always require something you have done in the past. After studying this book, you will understand better the competency-based interview, the recruitment process, and the job application principles. THE CONTEST BETWEEN MOTIVATION AND DISCIPLINE Motivation creates the initial spark. Without the discipline to sustain it, - it becomes worn-out. For example, motivation drives emotions, while discipline is deeply rooted in reasoning and conviction. Therefore, to be successful at anything demands a lot of consistency, which becomes hard to maintain without the initial motivation. The death of many failed projects, goals, dreams or endeavours stems from the lack of discipline, not the initial motivation. At its core, like consistency, to be successful at anything equally demands a lot of discipline. Discipline is the critical link, the firm foundation that transforms motivation into progress. Discipline is part of the fundamental principle of success. To achieve greatness, you must wear discipline like a helmet. I am #ExceptionalBlessing

CAPTION THIS Management worldwide struggles with workplace bullying. However, across the globe, workplace bullying ideas and approaches are poorly documented. Bullying at work is a common practice and involves repeatedly exposing one or more lower-ranking employees to unethical and inappropriate behaviour. These people typically struggle to escape or defend themselves from mistreatment. According to trusthworthy international assessments published in the European Journal of Management, 18% of the global workforce experience bullying within the workplace. Scientific research has shown that workplace bullying increases stress and sick days. The effects are lower organisational productivity and economic output. At its core, so many people mistake bullying for leadership. Bullying is repeated aggressive behaviour intended to hurt another individual physically or mentally and gain power over the target. Oh, no, this is not leadership but bullying. The study's newest analysis found lasting and harmful impacts that challenge organisational leadership. This issue requires a purposeful cultural shift based on morality and ethics. Leaders must act ethically to address this issue effectively through ethical leadership, ethical behaviour, and beneficial connections. Leaders should encourage such behaviour in followers through two-way communication, reinforcement, and decision-making. This leadership style is often associated with workplace morality and ethics. 🙏🏾

"In the Western world, they call it multitasking, creativity or versatility". In Nigeria, we call it "All-Rounder". I was underpaid in my entry-level position as an Account Officer. I didn't allow the salary to weigh me down. I saw this position as a blessing in disguise. Because of my many capabilities, it wasn't long before I was promoted to more leadership roles. This speaks to my overall intellect and ability to learn to serve better. My combination of versatility, intelligence, creativity, resilience, determination and perseverance made me an invaluable member of all the institutions I have worked in. When it was time to take my career to the next level and be paid as I deserved, I encountered setbacks. All people need to be congratulated and recognised on the job. People who feel recognised are more productive about themselves and their ability to make a meaningful contribution to organisational goals. Employers, learn how to reward and recognise loyal and valuable people. Stop taking your loyal people for granted!!!

The organisation recently hired Folashade, offering her an initial salary of $120,000. Folashade consistently demonstrates exceptional performance in her professional responsibilities. A colleague informs Folashade of the pay disparity one month into her tenure. Folashade to Hiring Manager: Joshua recently informed me of my pay disparities. Joshua and I both began our careers in the same position and at the same time. However, Joshua is currently earning $150,000. I believe it is only justifiable to modify my compensation in this manner. Hiring Manager: How do you determine Joshua's salary? Folashade: He brought it up to me. Hiring Manager: Joshua's circumstances are distinct; at present, the organisation is unable to allocate funds for an increase. Folashade: Joshua is earning 30% more than I, despite being a high performer. Hiring Manager: Joshua has previously negotiated this offer. In the negotiation assessment interview you failed to negotiate your salary. It is not the company's fault that your salary at the outset stays unchanged. Research suggests that 75% of the job applicants who make it past the salary negotiation assessment interview are underpaid. P. S. Always remember to research the company's salary rate and structure for the role to negotiate effectively to ensure fair compensation for your experience and worth. I am #ExceptionalBlessing

HR: Your salary will be inadequate at the outset. Is this understood and acceptable? Job Interviewee: There is no need for concern. My performance's quality will not be satisfactory until it is. Is it understood and acceptable? Ultimately, it is a mutually beneficial situation for all parties. There is no way to expect great results while paying your employees so little. Pay people what they are worth. I am #ExceptionalBlessing
